If you are like many people, this time of year can bring on seasonal allergies. Symptoms like watery eyes, a puffy face and a red nose can make you feel less than pretty, if at all presentable. According to the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, approximately 40 percent of female allergy sufferers say their red and puffy eyes make them look tired and unattractive. If you are like many people, this time of year can bring on seasonal allergies. Symptoms like watery eyes, a puffy face and a red nose can make you feel less than pretty, if at all presentable.

Feel pretty as
you say achoo!

According to the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America, approximately 40 percent of female allergy sufferers say their red and puffy eyes make them look tired and unattractive. To feel your best while battling allergies, try these simple but effective beauty tips:

pill bottleFind the right allergy medicine

Consult with your doctor or allergist to find a medication that works for you. There are so many over-the-counter options such as Zyrtec and Claritin  that work well to control symptoms. If your allergies are really bad, your doctor might even recommend immunology .

glass of waterSpike your water

Allergies can cause a puffy face and eyes, so first thing in the morning, take ice cubes and rub them under your eyes and around your face to reduce the “swelling.” The rest of the day, be sure to sip on at least eight glasses of water or more. Rebekah George, a beauty expert working with Zyrtec to help women combat “Allergy Face™” recommends adding lemons or cucumbers to the water to not only improve the taste, but to help flush out your system and reduce bloating.

SJosie Maran’s Bear Naked Wipestart with clean, fresh makeup and brushes

Old makeup and makeup bags can harbor allergens and germs. Be sure to clean your makeup brushes on a regular basis. The most convenient way is to keep cleaning wipes on hand such as Josie Maran’s Bear Naked Wipes . You should also make sure to toss any old makeup — mascara after two to three months, foundation after six months and lipstick, blush and eyeshadow after one year.

aquaphorRed, raw nose

Camouflage a red nose by using a green-based concealer under your foundation or BB cream. One to try is the Conceal Rx Physician Strength Concealer in Soft Green from Physicians Formula . If your nose is extra chapped, apply a dab of a healing ointment like Aquaphor to soothe the skin.

Boscia Super Cool Depuffing Eye BalmWatery, red eyes

To make your eyes seem brighter and more vibrant, apply a cooling eye balm such as Boscia Super Cool Depuffing Eye Balm . Follow this with a light diffusing concealer to mask the dark circles that come with bad allergies. Make the whites of your eyes seem brighter by applying navy blue eyeliner and mascara instead of black or brown. During allergy season, your makeup should be kept to a minimum, because heavy makeup can actually accentuate symptoms or even aggravate your allergies.

SheKnows caught up with Andrew Taylor at the opening of "the new Ann," one of the many concept stores that Ann Taylor has opened around the nation.

Andrew Taylor talks Ann Taylor

As the style director for the company, he offered some dos and don'ts for fall fashion and moms on the go. He even dressed up one of our editors . Here's what you can expect and how to brace yourself for the transition into fall trends.

"Don't be afraid to try on a dress. Most people think that you only wear a dress for dressy occasions," said Andrew. However, he explains, "You can wear a very simple, sleeveless chic dress that would work even if you're running errands." He also advises you to embrace colors and prints in order to embrace a feminine look... even if you're just going to pick up the kids from school.

Watch the look book:

Ann Taylor\'s style director Andrew Taylor dresses up a SheKnows editor in four fall outfits.

"At the end of the day, I think every woman wants to up her game and look great no matter what she's doing."

The cross body bag is a fall fashion favorite
Andrew claims that a crossbody bag is definitely a must for any woman's wardrobe, especially when it comes to a night on the town.

Don't say goodbye to color

Remember all those bright neons and stand-out colors that we saw for spring and summer? They aren't going anywhere! Color is still packing a punch in seasonal fashion. It's just about redefining the hues for a more fall and winter vibe. "What's very interesting is to see the new interpretation of color for fall," said Andrew.

2

Say hello to a new, old print

To those who say that animal prints are just for divas, we say, don't rule it out so soon. As Andrew pointed out, prints are able to be part of a much more sophisticated series of looks now-a-days. Ann Taylor's fall collection brings this idea to life.

"Another big trend for fall that's really exciting is prints. We're able to take animal prints and [use] them in ways that we've never done before," Andrew commented. Specifically, the snow leopard, what they are calling a modern take on the previously loved leopard prints.

3

Go for mixed media

"Accessories are always an amazing trend," says Andrew. "Look at the mixed media, the enamel and pearl cuffs. Things like that, that are very new feel, very fresh."

All trends aside...

"The last thing you want is something working against you."

Ann Taylor has always attracted working women and busy moms, and there's a method to their madness. Be yourself!

Andrew reminds us, "It's just as important to feel good on the inside as it is to look great on the outside. So wear things that are going to make you feel better about yourself because we know that we have so many challenging things in our life every day, the last thing you want to do is have something that's working against you."

He leaves you with this...

"Be natural, have fun, look chic."

Vampire veneers: Not just for Halloween anymore

Would you get vampire veneers?
Woman dressed as vampire

Sink your teeth into the trend

Think fake blood and vampire teeth are only en vogue during the month of October ? Think again! We're chatting with Dr. Gregg Lituchy about the rising trend in vampire veneers and his work with Heidi Klum.

SheKnows: Just in time for Halloween, the vampire trend is hotter than ever! How are people responding to vampire teeth? Are they really taking the plunge and getting fangs?

Dr. Gregg Lituchy: Between True Blood, the Twilight Series and The Vampire Diaries, the vampire trend is hotter than ever. I am finding an increase in the number of patients who are coming in for cosmetic procedures and are asking for their canine teeth to be shaped longer and pointier than in the past due to this [trend].

SheKnows: What are some permanent and non-permanent ways that vampire fans can get in on the action?

Lituchy: Permanent procedures to acquire vampire looking teeth include porcelain veneers and bonding, where the porcelain or composite are shaped in such a way to mimic the look of vampire teeth. A non-permanent procedure involves fabricating removable snap-on costume teeth which fit over one's natural teeth.

SheKnows: Is there any danger to getting a permanent vampire veneer?

Lituchy: No. Veneers, bonding and snap-on teeth are purely aesthetic, nothing dangerous at all. The bonding as well as the veneers can be re-contoured at a future time to make them look more normal and less vampire.

Heidi Klum -- 2005 Halloweeen
Heidi Klum attending her 2005 Halloween party

SheKnows: Tell us about your work with Heidi Klum! What have you done to her teeth for past Halloween costumes?

Lituchy: I have been Heidi’s dentist for over a decade and she always loves to throw Halloween parties. Heidi is always very meticulous and detail-oriented about her costume from head to toe including her teeth.

Last year, we made upper and lower fang teeth, which were custom fit to her teeth. We do this by making a mold of her teeth onto which a set of vampire like teeth are fabricated. The fit is quite accurate since they are made from a model of her teeth, and we also do custom color and shading so they blend in seamlessly with her other teeth. For one of her parties where she wanted the teeth to be more "ape-like," we also added pink acrylic to mimic gum tissue to plump out her upper lip.

SheKnows: Do you see this trend lasting or is it just a passing fad?

Lituchy: I see this trend as hanging around for the next few years while the vampire craze on TV and movies continues.

SheKnows: Any other thoughts on the trend or advice for fans seriously debating changing their teeth?

Lituchy: For fans of the vampire craze who are considering doing this, I say go for it! Life is short, so have some fun with it.

Who: Assistant Assigning Editor Erica Tiffany

What: Pore refining facial

Where: Four Seasons spa in Scottsdale, Arizona

Why: There's a first time for everything, right?

How long/much: 80 minutes for $220

The verdict

Treatment

Having extremely sensitive skin, I was wary going in for my first facial. Will it be too harsh? Will it make me break out? I talked to my aesthetician about my concerns and she was so receptive and helpful! She ended up tailoring a facial just for me, a mix between their pore refining facial and the hydrating and soothing facial.

The facial utilizes mineral-rich Ormovicza skin care products. The products are paraben-free and produced without petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances and colors so they aren't too harsh on the skin. “Botanicals such as jojoba oil, sage and orange blossom are incorporated into many of the products, making it the perfect fit for our Sonoran Desert destination," says spa director Lia Rowland.

Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon NorthAtmosphere

Nestled North of the Valley in the tranquil Arizona desert, Four Seasons Troon North is a safe haven for women in need of some 'me time.' From the moment I stepped on the grounds, I was impressed. I was encouraged to use their fitness room, go hike nearby Pinnacle Peak or spend the rest of my day lounging in a cabana by their sky-blue pool. It really made the entire day memorable! But, I was most impressed by the professional attitude of everyone I encountered. They really made me feel welcome and special!

Highlights

My absolute favorite part of the facial was the use of Derma-A-Globes. These cooling globes incorporate the therapeutic properties of color, touch, temperature and movement. They are made of glass and are used to reduce redness and puffiness around the eyes. They also have liquid inside and are kept in ice. So refreshing and really got my blood circulating! My other favorite part of the treatment was my aesthetician Tammi. Seriously, she is what took the experience from great to oh-my-gosh I don't ever want this to end! If you ever are lucky enough to find yourself at the Four Seasons in Scottsdale, ask for Tammi. You won't be disappointed.

Would I do it again?

Let me just say this quietly so my pocketbook doesn’t hear… Of course I would do this again! My skin looks and feels amazing, and the entire day spent at the Four Seasons was well worth it. Even though I am a beauty editor, because of my age, I have never really put much thought into how necessary it is to take care of my skin. But after this facial, I definitely will be taking a better approach to my skin care regimen!

Friday's Fashion Obsessions: Taylor Swift and Kristin Cavallari

Taylor Swift and Kristin Cavallari 's beautiful celebrity styles made us do a double take this week! We're telling you why in this week's installment of Friday’s Fashion Obsessions.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

It's been quite a big week for Taylor Swift! The singer just released her new album Red and has been hitting up talk shows all over to promote it. This week, she delighted Good Morning America viewers with a performance in Times Square.

Listen, I'm not a winter-loving gal. By any means, at all. I hate the cold. I hate snow. I hate it all. But this outfit gets me somewhat excited for the upcoming winter months! Wearing all black doesn't have to look morbid, and Taylor proves that here with her sparkly long-sleeved top. She paired the top with a flowing short black skirt and tights and the most amazing sparkly oxfords.

The final verdict? It's no secret that Taylor loves her sparkle, but it seems like the singer has finally grown up and transitioned to tasteful glitter! I'm loving this look from head to toe, aren't you?

Kristin Cavallari

Kristin Cavallari

Kristin Cavallari is one hot mama! She keeps impressing me with her post-pregnancy style, and this week the new mom showed up to host the Bing It On Halloween Costume Challenge in style in NYC.

Let's break down the look! Kristin knows how to work her long legs, and she did just that with leg-elongating nude pumps and short textured shorts in a vibrant hue. Her tucked in V-neck long sleeve top is also flattering and chic all at once, don't you think?

The final verdict? Kristin is showing us all a super fun way to make your shorts last into the colder months! Make sure the shade and texture of your shorts is cold-weather appropriate, and pair with a long sleeve top or sweater. You'll be as cute as Kristin!

Friday's Fashion Fails: Katy Perry & Vanessa Hudgens

$

Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Katy Perry and Vanessa Hudgens' fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!

Katy Perry

Katy Perry

She's never been the queen of subtlety, huh? When the singer took the stage at the America Forward Grassroots Event in Vegas for President Obama, one could assume that Katy Perry was supporting him. But just in case you weren't sure, Katy went ahead and dressed as a ballot for her performance, complete with check marks for current president and VP Joe Biden along with Mitt Romney.

And obviously, the box for Barack and Biden is filled in, in case you still had any doubts about who the "California Girl" is voting for. It's great that Katy is passionate about her politics and patriotism, but you're already performing at the president's fundraiser. That's a big statement by itself, so you don't have to wear your vote on your dress, too.

Human ballot dress aside, what's with those shoes? The red kitten heel pumps with an ankle strap are the fashion equivalent of a hanging chad: are they high heels or not? We can't decide.

The final verdict? We usually love Katy's bold fashion choices, but this dress is a little over the top. Then again, it was her birthday, so we guess we can give her a presidential pardon.

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens

Can someone please call this poor girl a tailor? She's missing fabric in the middle of her dress and has way too much of it on the sleeves. Vanessa Hudgens stepped out for the premiere of The Carrie Diaries in NYC, where she was supporting her beau Austin Butler who stars on the show.

Cutouts are cool for fall, but the ones on this dress are more like tear outs. The Love & Lemons Moonlight mini looks like two separates barely sewn together! And where she's lacking coverage in the midriff, she's drowning in it on her arms. The sleeves on this number are so long, you can't even see her hands. How is she gonna eat popcorn in this?!

The final verdict? There's too little to the middle of Vanessa's little black dress. For a black cutout gown done right, please see Nicole Richie's red carpet look. Cute boots, though!

Amy Adams

We're Obsessed!

We have a total crush on Amy Adams' chic 'do. Find out why in this week's installment of Celeb Hairstyle of the Week!

Some of the best hair looks are simply low key, in my opinion. And Amy Adams is one actress who has perfected the art of simple yet chic 'dos. This week, the actress wore her beautiful locks in cascading curls at the 16th Annual Hollywood Film Awards Gala.

Curious about how to recreate the look, I turned to Justine Piecuch, stylist at Boston's renowned Jeffrey Lyle Salon, and got the scoop on how you can steal Amy's style.

Get the look

"Celebs everywhere are on a huge wave trend. These styles are a lot easier to achieve than one would think," Piecuch says.

1

Dry

The best tool to do this with would be a larger sized curling wand. Blow dry hair using a heat protectant and a volumizer .

2

Section

After hair is 100 percent dry, separate into workable sections. I personally separate the front from the back. Too much hair to work with becomes frustrating, time consuming and messy .

3

Curl

Using the large sized curling wand, start in the back. Taking an inch-sized section, place the wand in the middle of the hair and wrap hair around the wand. If the ends poke out, it's OK because it gives hair the worn-in look!!

4

Repeat

Repeat all over the head until everything is curled. To get the Hollywood look, from here take your Mason Pearson brush and gently brush out the wave. Next, hit with a little hairspray and you're done! This look couldn't get any easier and is so effective for any night out.

Tell us

We're loving Amy's cute hairstyle! How about you? Sound off in the comments! And check out other celebrity hairstyles!

Beauty tips for women battling breast cancer

Woman with breast cancer

The month of October is filled with pink beauty and fashion products supporting the breast cancer awareness cause, but what about beauty tips for women battling the disease?

Feel beautiful

I reached out to Dr. Ashton — a board certified OB-GYN, author of Your Body Beautiful and TV medical correspondent — to hear her thoughts on the matter, and get her top three tips to help women feel beautiful during this trying time.

Watch your beauty ingredients!

Many of you have likely jumped on the healthy beauty bandwagon already, but if you haven't yet, doing so could benefit you greatly. "Women should use non-toxic skin/beauty products only — and don’t assume that natural means safe!" Dr. Ashton says.

So why are natural beauty products particularly important for breast cancer patients? According to Dr. Ashton, there's always the potential that environmental factors may have contributed in some way to a woman's diagnosis. Keeping that in mind, it makes sense to limit your exposure to potentially dangerous and toxic chemicals.

"While we certainly cannot live in 'plastic bubbles,' using pure, natural or organic beauty and personal hygiene products is one way to do this. But don't assume that 'natural' equals safe," Dr. Ashton says. "Checking ingredients in products with the FDA's list of known or suspected human carcinogens is one way to investigate these compounds. Making sensible and easy changes in things that we are consistently exposed to is an option for all women."

Work what you've got

When you're diagnosed with breast cancer, the disease itself isn't the only scary thing you have to deal with. Yes, thoughts of treatment and sickness can feel overwhelming, but as women, we sometimes turn to matters of vanity when we let our minds wander. If you're currently dealing with breast cancer or know a women who is, turning to simple beauty pleasures can help boost your mood.

"For women undergoing chemotherapy, experiment with different makeup/fashion items to accentuate different features. A wig isn’t always the only option. Sometimes a wig covers and smothers the scalp which clogs pores. It’s always important to allow the scalp to breathe."

The most important thing to remember? You're beautiful no matter what treatment throws your way. Dr. Ashton says, "Embrace the beauty you came into the world with! And don’t automatically think you must go with a wig."

Don't forget your teeth

Optic white

While your teeth might be the last thing on your mind while battling breast cancer, they are pretty important. "Remember the importance of good dental health. A great smile carries a lot of weight, whether it’s whitening, straightening or a great lipstick. Don’t forget about your smile!" Dr. Ashton says.

So even if you're not feeling smiley and happy, fake it, girl. Grab a whitening toothpaste — we like Colgate Optic White Toothpaste in Sparkling Mint — and make it a goal to freshen up your pearly whites. While it might sound vain, this simple act can help take your attention off of breast cancer for a few minutes and help you feel better about your appearance. We think that's a win-win!

Davines Lovely Curl Enhancing Shampoo

Crazy curl-friendly:

Davines Lovely Curl Enhancing Shampoo

For frequent shampooing of curly locks, this Davines shampoo can’t be beat. The formula is laced with olive oil and myrtle extract to add moisture while cleansing, leaving coarse curls soft and manageable instead.

Did you know there is a science to shampooing?

When washing hair, never bunch or scrub your hair. Use your fingertips to rub your scalp and run your fingers downward to clean and detangle. For best results, completely saturate your hair with warm water to open the scale-like cuticles of the hair to wash all the oil and dirt off. Focus on the scalp, as that is where you’ll find most of the oil, dirt and grime. Do not pile your hair on top of your head — let the suds run down naturally. This will help to keep the ends of your hair from losing too much oil.

Finally, before you condition, make sure to squeeze as much water out of your hair as possible to optimize the effects of your conditioner.

Halloween makeup how-to: Zombie Marie Antoinette

$

Halloween is only a couple of days away, and once again, you’re stressing out because you still don’t have a costume. Well, calm your nerves, because we’ve put together a not so boo-tiful, last-minute makeup tutorial for you. How about going as a zombie Marie Antoinette this year!? A little bit chic and a lot bit freaky, this creative costume is as fun as it is eerie!

Zombie Marie Antoinette makeup

I personally had the pleasure of sitting down with talented makeup artist Joshua Bosley of Beauty Collection in West Hollywood to get the complete zombie face transformation. Follow his simple steps below to recreate the living dead look yourself.

1

Brows

Brows

To make your eyebrows appear fuller, use a brow pencil and fill in any sparse areas or gaps.

2

Foundation

Foundation

Apply a light foundation to your entire face and neck, and dab concealer underneath your eyes to help disguise any dark circles — blend in well.

3

Lips

Lips

Moving on to your mouth: Define your lips with a red lip liner, and paint your pout the same color. Always use a brush to apply your lipstick — you’ll be less likely to go outside the lines.

4

Cheeks

Cheeks

Contour and add a touch of glow to your cheeks with a coral powder blush. Sweep the color from the apple of your cheek up toward the top of your ear.

5

Eyes

Eyes

To keep your eye makeup in place, prep your lids with primer first. Then, dust matte purple shadow over your entire lid, up to your brow, and blend with black eyeshadow to create a “bruised” effect. Remember to extend the color out past the corner of your eye , and line your upper lids with black eyeliner. Finish off by applying black mascara to your top lashes only.

6

Skin

Skin

The key to really nailing the zombie look is aging your skin. "It’s all about contouring and shading, to give off a sunken in/dead appearance,” says Josh. “Feel your face, and find the areas that don’t seem bony — these are the areas you want to shade darker.”

7

Shade

Shade

You also want to shade any areas where wrinkles would naturally occur, such as around the eyes, lips and on your forehead. "The best way to find these is by squinting your face, as if you just ate a lemon,” recommends Josh. Once you find them, dip a makeup brush in brown eyeshadow and extend the wrinkles out, like in the picture.

8

Blend

Blend

Don’t forget to blend your lines! You do want those wrinkles to look natural, don’t you?

9

Create red cat eye

Red cat eye

To make it seem like you haven’t slept in weeks/aren’t actually alive, create a “red cat eye” using the lip liner you used in Step 3.

10

Cover up eyebrows

If you want to get really crazy, make a portion of one of your eyebrows disappear by covering it up with foundation!

11

Blood

Blood

Finally, grab some fake blood and squeeze a good amount of the product at the corners of your eyes — let it fall down naturally like real tears. To amp up the evil , add a faded black cross to your forehead.

Now you’re ready to scare the bejeezus out of people!

Products used

  • Brows: Vincent Longo Brow Pencil in Brunette
  • Face: SmashBox Studio Skin Foundation, Vincent Longo Crème Concealer, Stila Self-Adjusting Coral Blush
  • Lips: Too Faced Lip Liner in Perfect Red, Too Faced Lip Color in Coral Fire

Final touches

Shopping online? Add this over the top Marie Antoinette Wig to your cart stat. Or, if you’re going for a more modern day look a la Kirsten Dunst, pick up this lovely blonde Victorian wig . Either way, just make sure you have it shipped to you overnight!

As far as your dress goes, we suggest you head to the nearest thrift store now and purchase a cheap prom dress that looks like something Marie would have worn! Splash fake blood on it to really get into character.

Fashionable flats: Get grounded with cute shoes for fall

$

While we’d never pledge allegiance to just one type of shoe, and we love all heel heights , flats are a perennial favorite for their comfort and versatility. If you need to add a few more flats to your footwear roster, we’ve handpicked a few standouts for this season.

suede Vera Wang pair

Simply suede

Every gal needs a pair of go-anywhere flats that can be worn with just about anything, and this cute suede Vera Wang pair fits the bill. We’re partial to the soft, sunrise pink, but these fab flats also come in black, camel and lavender.

Ballet flat

Totally textured

If you feel like adding a feminine twist to an outfit, we suggest starting with this pretty pair of quilted leather off-white ballet flats with a bow and stud detail at the toe . Wear them with jeans to dress up your denim or pair with a pencil skirt for work.

Betsey Johnson loafers

Bring the bling

Studs are a fall style must and what better way to wear them than on your feet? We were immediately intrigued by this eye-catching pair of Betsey Johnson black suede loafer-like flats featuring all-over crystal studs . Wear these sparkly suede shoes with anything you want to add interest to.

Patent flats

Patent and pointed

There’s something extra elegant about pointed toe flats and we’re partial to this oh-so-chic black patent pair that we’ll be putting into heavy rotation this fall . In fact, we may just pick up the vibrant persimmon pair, too.

Diane von Furstenberg flats

Stylishly serpentine

Reptile print is another cool weather trend we love, especially when it comes to footwear. This fall, trade bland ballet flats for something a little bolder, like this pair of Diane von Furstenberg flats featuring fuchsia python print and a heart-shaped buckle at the toe .

leather crocodile print pair

Mock croc

For those days where you just feel like wearing something a little different on your feet, you need a shoe that gets noticed. Our pick? This leather crocodile print pair with a side zip and pointed toe . While they are a bit on the pricier side, these burgundy beauties really are a statement-making shoe that can pull an outfit together.

A World Series worthy nail design

These nails are inspired by the official Giants uniform, complete with pinstripes and the black and orange stripes from their socks. I also love how fitting it is that their colors coordinate nicely with Halloween!

Nail polish colors for the San Francisco Giants nail design

Step 1:

I didn't have a cream nail polish, so I mixed some white and yellow together.

The colors you'll need: Sephora by OPI Hi Def, OPI Black Onyx, Sally Hansen White On, SinfulColors Pull Over

White finger nails, with an orange ring fingertip

Step 2:

Start with a base coat of cream, leaving your ring finger orange.

Creating the orange stripe on the white finger nails

Step 3:

With a small paint brush, paint orange pinstripes down the middle of three of your cream nails.

Creating the San Francisco Giants logo

Step 4:

Clean the paintbrush and put black polish on it. Paint the San Francisco Giants logo on your thumb.

Painting the ring finger nail with black nail polish

Step 5:

With two small strips of tape, mark off two stripes toward the top of your orange ring finger nail. Paint it black, wait for it to dry and then gently peel off the tape.

Making sense
of scents

As Oscar de la Renta once coined it perfectly, fragrance is an invisible dress. It's time to dress appropriately and transition your fragrance wardrobe into fall 2012. This season, we are seeing the release of some of the most exciting and potentially classic scents in recent fragrance years.

Marc Jacobs - DotMarc Jacobs — Dot

Everything Marc Jacobs touches becomes unforgettable, and his scents aren’t any different. First it was Daisy, a light and fresh scent that continues to be worn year-round and fly off the shelves. Then we had the fruity and flirty Lola collection, a drift from Daisy’s innocence and a dive into bold. Marc Jacobs' latest creation is Dot, and this is for the spontaneous female.

Price: $89 per 3.4 ounce bottle of Dot by Marc Jacobs

Scent analysis: The scent features notes of red berries, jasmine with a hint of driftwood — perfect for staying true to your energetic nature during the calm fall/winter months.

Chanel - COCO NOIRChanel — COCO NOIR

Chanel fragrances have come a long way since Marilyn Monroe famously said all she wears to bed is Chanel No. 5. Other classics from the Parisian fashion house include the youthful but romantic Chance and for the more powerful woman, Allure. Now comes a fashion forward fragrance unlike anything Chanel has done before.

Price: $98 per 1.7 fluid ounce bottle of COCO NOIR

Scent analysis: COCO NOIR is a dark, seductive and intimate black eau de parfum that is warmed by the unmistakable notes of grapefruit, Indonesian Patchouli and jasmine.

Oscar de la Renta - Essential LuxuriesOscar de la Renta — Essential Luxuries

Oscar de la Renta’s fragrances are just as impactful as his fragrance wisdom. When inventing his new line of scents, he wanted to depart from the traditional fragrance-designing ways of other fashion houses. He spent a lifetime of research collecting the inspiration for his six-scent Essential Luxuries fragrance collection.

Price: $150 per Essential Luxuries fragrance

Scent analysis: Each is inspired by a different event or memory in Oscar’s life. Mi Corazón, for example, is inspired by his own devotion to his family and passion for gardening. These scents will complement our nights at the opera or even during the day running errands — he always wants us to make an impression.

Lady Gaga - FameLady Gaga — Fame

It comes as no shock that this eccentric scent has already been involved in controversy. Lady Gaga’s Fame is the first perfume that is completely black in color but clear when sprayed; she is the first fragrance designer to utilize such technology. Better yet, it’s based off the molecular structures of blood and semen, but it smells absolutely nothing like them. Thanks Gaga. It smells surprisingly incredible.

Price: $55 per bottle of Fame

Scent analysis: Gaga infuses strong notes of Tiger Orchid, apricot and saffron. Three sprays of Fame will keep you mysterious all through fall.
