For the first day of Fashion Week, Ashlee Simpson and Christina Ricci sit front row and Alexa Ray Joel snags a new job.

New York Fashion Week kicked off Thursday and there was no shortage of stars at Lincoln Center, ready to see the freshest fall fashion hit the runway. Ashlee Simpson and Vanessa Hudgens hit the Wildfox presentation the night before at Capitale, but Ash was still up bright and early to catch the Richard Chai runway show. She sat front row alongside Christina Ricci and Anna Wintour to watch the latest collection, which featured lots of menswear-inspired looks.
Over at the BCBG Max Azria show, Alexa Ray Joel told SheKnows she has a new job: fashion journalist! Christie Brinkley's daughter is covering Fashion Week for JULIB.com and said she was excited to interview celebs at last night's Heart Truth show. Alexa watched the BCBG runway show, which was inspired by the "architecture of Istanbul and the eclectic style of the Gypsies of Southern Europe," according to designing husband and wife team Max and Lubov Azria.
One thing we found interesting about the presentation, which featured plenty of fur, leather and shift dresses, was that each and every one of the models was wearing a knit beanie. Looks like warm headgear is right on trend, so hold on to your hats, ladies!
The final three designers show their creations to a star-studded crowd at Fashion Week, but there's a catch — we don't know who they are yet! Plus, which judge does Heidi sometimes clash with?

Supermodel and super mom Heidi Klum was on hand to greet fashionistas this morning for the Project Runway fashion show, where the final three contestants showcase their designs every year. With reality cameras rolling, Heidi was joined by her fellow judges Zac Posen, Nina Garcia and Michael Kors to kick off the day and she paused to give props to them all.
"For the first time, I have one designer back there who I'm rooting for but let's see how the other judges feel about this."
"I have to say, Zac, you've been doing a fantastic job," she told the crowd. "It's not a very easy seat to fill because Michael is fantastic, and you've done a great, great job. You're funny, you know what you're talking about and I love having you."
Heidi admitted that sometimes she and Nina don't see eye to eye, but she still loves her, too. "Sometimes we fight a little bit," she explained. "We're not always in agreement, but thank you for being here again today this year."
"And you know I love you Michael! And I'm happy that you're here today as our guest judge for the season 11 finale. I love you like my brother," Heidi finished. But after she introduced her judges, she had to call cut and explain why for the first time in the show's history, she couldn't introduce the actual contestants.
"Because we are only two or three weeks on the air, we have so many designers still that we can't tell you who is still on the show basically and who is not," Heidi told the crowd. "We can't show the designers. They can't do their speech today for the first time."
Heidi did share that she's rooting for one person in particular. "For the first time, I have one designer back there who I'm rooting for but let's see how the other judges feel about this," she said.
Even though we had no idea who the designs were by, we can definitely say the fashions we saw were totally fierce! You can see for yourself when the Project Runway season 11 finale airs on Lifetime.
The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for fall/winter 2013 is in full swing — and we're loving what we're seeing on the runway, especially the colors. Luckily, Pantone has broken down the top colors designers are using in their new collections.

It's not surprising that designers are embracing Pantone's Color of the Year for 2013— Emerald — as a staple in their collections. What's so awesome, though, is that designers are also opting for other rich, fall-friendly colors.
"Just as the leaves change in autumn, the consumer will enjoy the ability to change their 'look' and try a new approach to their wardrobe for brisk days ahead," Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, told SheKnows. "The fall 2013 palette allows for that versatility and experimentation."
Pantone officials told SheKnows that designers like Tracy Reese , Tommy Hilfiger, Jenny Packham, Herve Leger and Nanette Lepore favor colors like the yellow-toned Linden Green, Mykonos Blue, Acai, Samba and Koi for their jaw-dropping creations.
Our favorites? Let's just say we can't wait to see Turbulence, Vivacious and Carafe grace our fall wardrobes. We'll definitely be pairing the brights like Emerald with shades of purple or Samba red.
Men's fashion

We're all over the unisex look — and it seems like more and more designers are recognizing that with their fall 2013 collections. Not surprisingly, Pantone reports that a lot of the men's clothing features the same tones as women's — including Acai, Koi and Emerald — along with other rich hues like Beaujolais and Deep Lichen Green.
The key to pulling these colors off? Balance the vibrant hues like with neutral colors like Turbulence and Carafe.

When a celebrity couple gets together, everyone’s fascinated with what happens when they get undressed. But, if you want to know what’s really going on in their relationship, take a deeper look at the way they get DRESSED when they’re together! Celebrities are nothing if not chameleons, changing the way they present themselves depending on what role they're playing — be it on a movie set or in the privacy of their relationship.
Since celebs are forever morphing into the person they want to be or the person they think their partner seeks, do they start dressing alike? It's the sartorial equivalent of mirroring each other’s behavior in order to build intimacy and connection. Do they suddenly “scrub up,” trying to be the best they can be?
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, I have dissected and decoded some of Hollywood’s most intriguing couples' clothes to uncover what’s brewing beneath the designer leather and silk.
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux
What it says:“Good girl seeks bad boy on best behavior.”
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
After years in single girl Siberia, Jen Aniston has finally found what she’s been looking for — a naughty boy who knows how to treat her like a lady. Here’s how we know.
Classic tailored casual wear — after a dash of experimenting with leather jackets and her bad side, Jen has returned to her good girl ways with her trademark classic tailored double breasted jacket, clean cut jeans and pristine sneakers. This reveals that she doesn’t have to pretend to be wild and outrageous to be desirable and loved by Justin. In other words, she’s loved by an interesting guy for being her boring old self!
Meanwhile, Justin understands that Jen is attracted to the bad boy type and so his edgy, slightly rocker clothing plays up to that desire. He also dresses in just distressed enough leather boots and jacket which show he’s in the role of protector, something Jen desperately seeks in order to feel safe.
However, Justin has refined his bad boy looks with some cleanly shaven skin and expensive fashion pieces which reflects his deep desire to “please” Jen and be on his best behavior for her. His expensive aviator shades and gold watch show that he’s stepped into the role of leading man and is more socially ambitious than he lets on.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West
What it says:“We are pop culture royalty. Beyonce and Jay-Z, watch your back!”
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Done with trying to be “normal” and apologizing for her fabulous life, Kim has finally hooked up with a man who is even more of a diva than she is. And she couldn’t be happier! It took her short-lived marriage to Kris Humphries for Kim to realize that she didn’t want an “ordinary life,” and her relationship with Kanye has given her permission to embrace her inner princess.
Since hooking up with Mr. West, Kim's style has undergone a haute couture makeover that includes saying goodbye to her Valley Girl sweats and shiny, saccharine fashion. Determined to impress her superstar beau, the cleavage has been reduced, the sequins have been dialed down and black and white has become the order of the day. Her new favorite names are Balenciaga and any other high fashion European label that mere mortals can hardly pronounce, let alone purchase… part of her borrowing from his elitist view of where they stand in society.
Her dialed up style also reflects her desire to be taken seriously by Kanye and the world at large. She wants to entirely shed her cheesy reality TV image and be seen as an internationally respected A-list mogul. Kanye is clearly in the role of mentor and Kim is his muse. Kim’s still a little bit afraid of Kanye and very much wants his approval.
The traditional tux/gown styling reveals that as modern as they are , they both have traditional values when it comes to male and female roles within a relationship. Kim likes to fuss over her man and play the role of coy wife to a stronger male figure. Kanye, on the other hand, likes to be with a femme fatale but one who’s ultra-feminine and loves babies, fashion and family… so it’s a match made in heaven!
His designer tuxes and custom creations show his need to be admired and recognized . However, her strong color and structured tailoring shows that in her own way, Kim gets what she wants too! His polished, tapered shoes show that he has very high standards and expects the best.
They want the same things in life — glamour, fame, fabulousness and family, so there is very little to argue about!
Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis
What it says:“We are real people, individual thinkers, who know how to switch off from the ‘Hollywood machine.’”
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Both stars in their own right, when funny guy Jason hooked up with green eyed goddess Olivia, he found exactly what he was looking for — a glamorous Hollywood leading lady who was very un-Hollywood on her days off.
The dark shades reveal that both of them value their privacy, and while they are equally ambitious, they also seek a real life away from the watchful glare of the media. This shared need for a “real” relationship is the reason why their love goes from strength to strength.
Mismatching clothing — While they are very connected, both of them have a very strong sense of identity and don’t need to feel joined at the hip. They celebrate their independence and have a great deal of trust and respect for one another.
The plaid shirt — This is worn by a man who feels very comfortable in his own skin. He’s the anti-pretty boy, which is something Olivia adores.
Her scuffed suede booties show that despite her magazine covers, she’s happiest just hanging out “like one of the boys” and has a wicked, even slightly dirty sense of humor.
This season, it was all about downtown chic meets uptown glamour at Rebecca Minkoff's FW13 runway show. Here are our favorite moments straight from the front row at Lincoln Center.

What we saw
This season, Rebecca showed a stunning collection of really cool biker jackets and studded bags, along with more classic pieces like structured blazers and pinstripe pants. Think: Uptown socialite that headed downtown for a cool concert.
We also saw beanies on the models' heads , pops of forest green and even spring colors — which was very unexpected on a fall runway. The last two models walked out in gorgeous orange and yellow dresses.
The outerwear! Rebecca's long coats nailed it this season. We especially loved her camo-printed trench-like coat with a gorgeous shearling collar. We have a feeling every girl will be running to buy this stunner this fall.
What to buy this season
Since you can't buy any of these runway pieces until fall, we're dying for this flowy cream dress for spring. Plus, it totally performs a double duty. Here's how we would style this for the office and for the weekend.
For work
Throw on a cardigan and a cute pair of pumps, and you're ready for a day at the office.
Country crooner Carrie Underwood kept things classy per usual in a gorgeous Roberto Cavalli gown with some major bling at this year’s Grammy Awards!
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Carrie Underwood is definitely no stranger to the red carpet, and while the blonde bombshell typically plays it safe when it comes to her fashion choices, she always seems to hit the nail right on the head no matter what she dons. And, of course, tonight was no exception.
“I thought sticking with something kind of classic glam would be good for tonight,” said Underwood about her mermaid-style, strapless black Roberto Cavalli gown with a sheer overlay skirt. We couldn’t agree more. It flatters her figure perfectly and the pattern and fit are tres chic, wouldn’t you agree?
On her neck, Carrie decided to seriously amp up the bling, sporting a stunning 381-carat diamond necklace that she jokingly claimed was worth more than her. Psh, girl as if! You know you’re priceless!
When asked by Ryan Seacrest if it was heavy though, Carrie stated, “It’s heavy on my soul. I’m afraid someone’s going to tackle me.” Don’t worry Carrie, we think you’re safe at the Grammys.
To complete her ensemble, she finished off her look with a black smoky eye and rocked her signature blonde waves. Overall, we think she did a great job, even if it wasn’t anything too shocking or out of her comfort zone.
Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift made definite statements with their 2013 Grammy Awards outfits. Which do you like?
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Jennifer Lopez didn't let the new Grammy rules keep her from showing off a lot of skin: A lot of leg skin, that is. The singer wore a seriously asymmetrical gown to the 2013 Grammy Awards.
"They didn't say anything about leg!" Lopez said of the Anthony Vaccarello dress. "I thought I was being such a good girl! A little shoulder, a little leg."
The consensus? She's sticking with this year's Grammy color trend — all black — but it's just too much. Either show some leg or some arm — not both. And the top knot? She needs to put a sock in it!
Then again, it's hard to live up to the infamous Versace dress she wore to the 2001 awards. FYI: She still has the dress.
"I have that at home,” she said last week. “The other day, my housekeeper put it on a mannequin in my spa, where I get my hair and makeup done. She sent me a picture. She was like, ‘You like this dress?’ Um, yeah, but I don’t know if I like it out in the house!”
As for Taylor Swift? The Red singer is wearing a white Grecian-inspired gown by J. Mendel, complete with silver straps and a halo braid.
Oh, and just the teensiest bit of sideboob.
There's nothing really wrong with the gown, but we just expected more — especially since she's been rocking so many fab gowns during awards season.
Perhaps Adele has Valentine’s Day on the mind because the gorgeous Grammy nominated singer showed up in a color other than black, notably head-to-toe red floral, causing quite the stir on the carpet tonight!

Adele's dress at The 55th Annual Grammy Awards: Love it or hate it?
It’s not often that we see Adele don a bold, bright hue. There’s a first time for everything, as the songstress and new mom managed to send shockwaves all over social media this evening when she stepped out in a flirty and floral Valentino frock.
The busy printed dress featured long sleeves, a high neckline and a flared skirt. It hit right at the knee, allowing Adele to flaunt a little leg, but of course, no spray tan for her.
Keeping with the floral trend, she accessorized with matching Valentino pumps and decked out her ears with pretty pink flower power earrings.
On her lips, Adele opted for a glossy look and she stayed true to the dramatic, thick black liner and lashes that we’re used to seeing on her eyes.
As for hair, she went with an intricate beehive, a style that’s also familiar and works quite well for the star.
The big question of the night though is, what did you think of Adele’s dress? Twitter seems to be quite divided, with some folks really loving the floral print frock and others saying, “No, no, no!”
Holy Destiny's Child! Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland walked the red carpet at the 2013 Grammy Awards in drastically different looks: Kelly in sheer, Beyonce in pants.
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Black is definitely the color of the 2013 Grammy Awards, judging from the dozens of black dresses on the red carpet. But, like usual, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland managed to get attention with their unique takes on the trend.
Queen B opted for a black and white crepe pantsuit from Osman, along with a Swarovski clutch, and LorraineSchwartz jewels.
Rowland, on the other hand, showed off her absolutely incredible body in her Georges Chakra Couturegown with LorraineSchwartz jewels. She skirted the Grammy rules with the sheer stripes, too.
We're still reeling over their amazing Super Bowl halftime performance — and Kelly is, too.
"When I looked on the other side of the stage at the Super Bowl and I saw Beyoncé and Michelle [Williams], my heart just went into my throat,"Rowland said on the red carpet. "I was so happy. It was just such a beautiful moment."
And it's high time Kelly gets as much attention as Beyoncé — especially since she's making her comeback in music with a new single, "Kisses Down Low."
After Rihanna brought sexy back in a plunging black Armani gown at last year’s Grammys, we were giddy with anticipation to see what the Barbados-born singer would wear to tonight’s award show. And disappoint us she definitely did not!
Image may be NSFW. Clik here to view.
Ow, ow! We knew RiRi would really bring it at this year’s Grammys. We just didn’t know how, or who or what, the songstress would be wearing.
To our surprise she chose, not a skin-baring number, but an elegant, custom red floor-length Azzedine Alaia gown with a stunning train and chic sheer details.
Rihanna admits that it was in fact her first choice. “I walked in, and it was pretty much on the mirror. He [Azzedine Alaia] sent me a few dresses that he had worked on, and this one was just stunning. I love the color, and I like the a-line.”
We have to agree with RiRi -- it fits her like a glove. Paired with that perfect red pout and those long, luscious wavy locks, she looks impeccably put together. The whole soft, glamorous thing really works for this usually-edgy starlet.
Finally, to top off her ensemble, she accessorized with sparkling Neil Lane jewels and Manolo Blahnik heels. We don’t know about you, but she’s certainly on top of our best-dressed list for the second year in a row. What are your thoughts/feelings?
Holy moly! We expected something completely crazy from the typically out-there artist, but Katy Perry managed to surprise us in the best way possible by going green in a gorgeous, sophisticated Gucci gown at this year’s Grammys.

Whitney Port chose Katy Parry as one of the best dressed. See the rest of her picks here.
There’s no denying the fact that when it comes to eccentric style, Katy Perry is a name that pops into heads first.
C’mon, the singer has rocked almost every hair color under the rainbow. Remember the bright blue updo she donned at last year’s Grammys? She always seems to be shocking us with her unconventional fashion choices.
However, tonight Katy dressed to impress in a totally different way, opting for a beautiful, body-hugging mint green gown by Gucci that definitely broke the award show’s ridiculous “puffy flesh” rule.
The dress featured elegant embellishments around the chest and neckline, along with a killer keyhole cutout that easily became the center of attention, or rather, it was her cleavage that did!
Of the dress, Katy said she garnered her inspiration from Priscilla Presley in the ‘70s. She also stated, “The bigger the hair, the closer to God.” We love the basic black color of her mane and the fact that it’s flowy and down.

Start on the second line
When you’ve completed the entire first line, start on the second line from the bottom up. Remember to check if you’re creating a diamond pattern. No two hearts should be side by side on each row.

The runway rundown
Fashion isn't just for the females! On Sunday, many men also made the stylish scene to support their leading ladies.
For day four of New York Fashion Week, Victoria Beckham brought along her best accessory to her runway presentation: her husband David! Her man was sitting front row to cheer her on at the New York Public Library, right next to Anna Wintour.
Her fall collection featured perfectly tailored bright yellow and cobalt pieces, and clearly, Posh was thrilled with the results and the crowd turnout. "Amazing show today, my no 1 girl x," she Tweeted along with a photo of her adorable daughter Harper. All together now: awww!
Rachel Zoe doesn't show her line until Wednesday, but she hit up the tents Sunday with her supportive spouse Rodger in tow, who's sporting a new darker hairdo these days. The happy couple stopped by the Samsung Galaxy Lounge, where Rodger wasn't afraid to pack on the PDA in front of the photographers.

Chelsea Handler also brought her beau Andre Balazs along for the Diane von Furstenberg show, where they took in fashion from the front row. Vanessa Hudgens, Katharine McPhee and Shay Mitchell were also on hand for DVF, which featured patterned and colorblocked versions of her famed wrap dress and head-to-toe metallic menswear-inspired looks.

Vivienne Tam
Carmen Electra caught Vivienne Tam's collection Sunday evening, which just so happened to fall on Chinese New Year. The Asian designer was clearly influenced by her roots and the holiday, using a beautiful red runway to showcase her fall collection, which featured reds, blacks and graphic prints.
This year's Grammys were black, white and red all over. The red carpet at the Grammys is always filled with everything from jeans and sneakers to the most glamorous gowns. This year didn’t disappoint with stars opting for shimmery black, winter white and ravishing red to make a statement. There were a few mishaps, but we'll get to those later... First, let's talk about the good stuff.

Black was the color of the night with everyone from J.Lo, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Carly Rae Jepsen and Kelly Rowland wearing anything but basic black. They all took that classic black look and put their own spin on it. J.Lo was channeling her inner Angelina Jolie with a thigh high slit, while Carly opted for a black shimmer. Carrie Underwood went for a lace pattern overlay while Kelly Rowland’s black gown was all about the cutouts.
White

Taylor Swift glowed in a white gown, giving her an almost angelic look. Beyonce looked beautiful and comfortable in her black and white jumpsuit with her hair in a sleek ponytail. Coming off last week's Super Bowl performance, Beyonce opted for a more casual red carpet look.

Rihanna, Adele and Natasha Bedingfield all put on red to turn heads and drop jaws. Rihanna looked her best ever with feminine hair, a gorgeous gown and complementary red lips. Red has been a staple on the red carpet this year and stars who really want to stand out always know that red is the way to go.
A few fashion fails
A lot of thought goes into getting dressed for an awards show — time, energy, preparation. But that being said, Florence Welch looked like she got the wrong invitation and dressed like a dinosaur for a Halloween party! The guys don’t get off that easy, either. John Mayer was trying to make a statement in his bright purple velvet blazer and bow tie, but he probably should have stuck to a classic black or navy.
Thank you for giving us a night of fashion, fun and fabulousness. Now rest up for the Oscars!
No butt cracks, thongs, under boobs, side boobs, sheer frocks, nipples and, wait for it, no overly demonstrative groin areas. The confrontational email from producers setting out the rules for dressing for last night's Grammy Awards was enough to make even music’s most out there performers blush. As Jennifer Lopez put it, some of the words in the letter she wouldn’t let her children say at home! And they might have threatened the end of fun for any other red carpet night.
What does it all mean?

Despite the plea for a little piety, fortunately music’s biggest stars used their own style compass and most safely navigated the delicious line between risque and rude, stylish and sexy, glam and ghetto to perfection. After all, the Grammy’s red carpet, more than any other night, is about pushing the envelope… and last night they did so without going too far.
So how did last night's biggest stars interpret the new fashion rules? Here is my Style Shrink analysis of Grammy fashion and what it reveals about the wearer.
Rihanna

What her outfit says:“I own my power and finally feel like a part of the establishment.”
Ri-Ri’s stunning lipstick-red custom Azzedine Alaia gown speaks volumes about her self-perception. No longer the rebel outsider or Jay-Z’s creation, last night she stepped into her own power and felt like the main act and an icon in her own right.
The gown’s long A-line shape reveals a new sense of grace and ladylike composure. The sheer bodice sends the message that she has nothing to hide, is very comfortable in her sexuality and is not ashamed of her past or who she is today. She will always have edge, but now she feels more feminine. This is her version of sticking to the rules while breaking a few at the same time.
The long flowing hair is Rihanna’s most classic hairstyle since she was first discovered. It shows she has dealt with many of her demons from relationships past and believes once more in the fairy tale. This is a return to innocence.
Katy Perry

What her outfit says:“I’m a woman and I own my curves.”
The inspiration for Katy Perry’s mint green Gucci gown was none other than Priscilla Presley. Perry, who in the past has gone for more girly looks, wowed the crowd with her very grown up, bejeweled cleavage- baring ensemble. It sent a very clear message to the world…”I’m all grown up!”
Green, the color of envy, is often worn by those who have experienced negative energy in their recent past. Wearing this shade shows the “haters” that don’t have anything nice to say about her that their animosity is just born out of jealousy. Including her ex!
Breast baring top — Katy is blessed with great cleavage and after years of feeling that she had to hide her sexuality , she now realizes that she has nothing to hide and that they are gifts from God.
Skin tight silhouette — Gone are the tulle tutus and candy cane corsets, this slinky long-sleeve dress shows a new sophistication and reveals that she is comfortable in her own skin. It’s taken a lot to get here, but Katy finally feels like a woman who has nothing to hide.
Jennifer Lopez

What it says:“Look at me!”
I’m a huge fan of J.Lo and always look forward to her red carpet moments, but last night’s look was a little on the desperate side of daring. Of course Jennifer looked flawless — she always does — but her almost crotch baring Anthony Vaccarello gown, which was on the cusp of a “wardrobe malfunction” all night, screamed “I’ve still got it… look at me!” a little louder than perhaps she needed it to.
The sleek hair and makeup was pitch perfect, conveying an almost “naked but better” feeling, revealing just how comfortable she is being in the spotlight. She was born a star and feels most like herself as the center of attention.
The bondage style black and gold shoes reveal her raunchy side. She feels free to do things her way and is in her sexual peak… watch out Casper!
