Friday's Fashion Fails: Halle Berry and Sienna Miller

$

Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Halle Berry and Sienna Miller's fashions fell short at the Golden Globes in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!

Halle Berry

Halle Berry

Just because you're a beautiful woman doesn't mean you can get away with wearing an awful dress to the Golden Globes... here's looking at you, Halle Berry! The Oscar-winning actress chose this Atelier Versace gown for the Globes, but she's not taking home any fashion awards in this number.

This dress looks like it's straight out of Wet Seal and made for a girl going to a high school homecoming dance, not one of Hollywood's biggest award shows. The busy print with chain links on it screams cheap and tacky to us, and the Angelina Jolie-esque super high leg slit isn't making it look any classier.

The final verdict? Halle is a gorgeous woman and has an amazing body, but this dress is all wrong for a 46-year-old woman attending the Golden Globes. We do like her simple hairstyle and fresh-faced glow, though... from the head up, she looks fab!

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller

Sienna Miller is stuck in the '60s in this flower powered ensemble. Her pastel colored custom skirt and top getup for the Golden Globes was made by Erdem, and we vote to leave this look in another decade, where it belongs.

The new mom looks amazing for having just given birth last year, but this outfit is awful on her. The appliqued flowers hanging off remind us of a doily, and the wide cut of the top isn't flattering. Instead of streamlining her enviable figure, this creation cuts her in half.

The final verdict? The British actress, who formerly had her own fashion line with her sister, should really know better. She didn't take home the Golden Globe she was nominated for that night and she's not winning best dressed from us, either. Better luck next year, babe!

The right and wrong way to scarf

$

Scarves are such a blessing in the winter. They're accessories that are as fashionable as they are functional, but only when they are done correctly. Since we’ve all seen examples of scarves gone bad, let us present our quick guide to keep you on the correct side of scarf fashion!

Imogen Thomas

Wrong

Welsh model Imogen Thomas is breaking so many fashion rules here that we scarcely know where to start. We’ll focus on the scarf. Scarves, for those who don’t know , should not be worn over your head. And if you are such a huge celebrity that you are trying to conceal your face, your scarf fabric probably shouldn’t be sheer. Or covered in skulls. And your purse and shoes should either contrast one another in an interesting way or match perfectly. Imogen’s do neither of these things.

Daisy Lowe

Right

Can we get a “hell yeah!” Here English fashion model Daisy Lowe demonstrates how to scarf properly. Daisy’s leather studded biker jacket is the bomb, and she brilliantly pairs an equally cool scarf with it, without taking away from or clashing with her ultra-cool jacket. This scarf has all the elements of a must-have accessory — an interesting shape, an appealing color without being obnoxious and fringe as a subtle embellishment. And the crowd goes wild.

Ashley Tisdale

Wrong

We love us an infinity scarf . Unfortunately this fashion trend, like so many others, is being abused. It’s actress Ashley Tisdale to the rescue with this stellar example of what we mean. An infinity scarf is to be looped about your neck in a becoming fashion, not plastered under your head like a bath-mat.

Minka Kelly

Right

Minka Kelly rescues this look and reminds us why we love it in the first place. Her infinity scarf is looped correctly, and she has chosen a color that complements her casual look and her skin tone. She has not wadded her scarf under her neck, or worse, made a very small loop at the top and a saggy loop at the bottom.

Kate Walsh

Wrong

This scarf disaster is heartbreaking because Kate Walsh is firing on all other fashion cylinders. From the jacket to the capris to the bag and shoes, Kate is just a tweak away from perfection. Unfortunately, with this scarf, it’s a rather large tweak. The fabric is fine, but what Kate demonstrates here is the importance of a good knot. Here she has mangled about three scarf wrapping techniques into one, making it appear as though a large boa constrictor is about to have her for lunch.

Blake Lively

Right

This on-set photo of Blake Lively shows us the correct way to knot a large scarf. It’s hard to tell — Blake may actually be wearing two scarves. The point is, she is demonstrating two extremely important elements of scarfing . The scarf has been layered, not wadded, and the end of the long scarf flows.

Pam Anderson and Anne Hathaway

Wrong

Here we offer a two-fer to demonstrate what happens if your scarf is too big or too small. Pam Anderson is small in stature, thus, she shouldn’t wear a scarf that looks like a blanket around her tiny frame . For the rest of us, it's important to make sure our neck accessories don't swallow the rest of our body. On the other end of the spectrum is Anne Hathaway, who is typically spot-on when it comes to fashion. But what the hell is going on around her neck in this photo? Scarves should make a statement without overwhelming your outfit. But they also shouldn’t underwhelm it! This puny scarf isn’t worth the time it took Anne to put it around her neck.

Alassandra Ambrosio

Right

Model Alessandra Ambrosio is strutting major scarf flair in one of our favorite ways — atop her hippie head! This is such a sassy, timeless look that is more or less hard to screw up. It also looks fabulous with short hair.

The only word of caution is to make certain that your scarf is long — a short one is going to look ridiculous. Also, be warned that this look can go, if you aren’t careful, from cool hippie to demented pirate in precious little time.

Half right — half wrong

And somewhere in the middle we have David Beckham and Kim Kardashian.

David Beckham

We don’t love this look on David but we don’t hate it either. And here’s why. David Beckham could wear a rubber chicken around his neck and he’d still be one of the hottest guys on the planet.

Kim Kardashian

KK’s look hits the middle of the scarf meter. The scarf is amazing, and she's cleverly worn it with a short jacket. But be warned! If you wear a long fringed scarf with a normal winter coat that has been zipped up, several inches of the scarf will hang below the coat, making it look as if you are in desperate need of some she-scaping.

The powerhouse plant that benefits your winter skin

Aloe’s ability to soothe sunburn has become so legendary that bottles of aloe gel have become a crucial beach accessory. But if you reserve the use of this succulent plant to simply one season, you miss out on the benefits aloe can bring to your skin in wintertime too, when it is most at need for nurturing.
Aloe vera

All about aloe

Aloe’s ability to soothe sunburn has become so legendary that bottles of aloe gel have become a crucial beach accessory. But if you reserve the use of this succulent plant to simply one season, you miss out on the benefits aloe can bring to your skin in wintertime too, when it is most at need for nurturing.

Why use aloe?

Loaded with more than 200 active components, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, polysaccharides, fatty acids and more, aloe is clinically proven to benefit the body. It has an excellent ability to promote the regeneration of skin cells, making it ideal in the treatment of conditions like eczema and acne.

It is an effective anti-inflammatory and can, therefore, address inflammation-based skin issues, including visible skin aging. Aloe includes a high magnesium content and aspirin-like compounds, which help it to alleviate the discomfort of dry skin. And, unlike water, aloe can penetrate skin tissue, which ensures that its active components reach the site of skin healing.

Yes, there's a trick to shopping for aloe...

Put aloe to work for your skin by looking for skin care products that include a high concentration of the ingredient. Aloe will be the first ingredient listed on the label. Additionally, be sure the product you select not only uses aloe but uses a high quality of aloe because the plant contains components that are considered impurities and may cause irritation in some individuals. Like many skin care ingredients, aloe is available in a variety of grades, with pharmaceutical-grade being the highest quality and purity. If the product contains high-grade aloe, it will most likely be stated on the label.

While the gel from a raw aloe leaf is often touted as a superior home skin therapy, its unpurified state means irritation could occur in highly sensitive individuals. Therefore, if you choose to treat dry, cracked hands with fresh aloe gel, do so cautiously until you know how your skin will respond. Your best bet, however, may be to skip the hassle and, instead, turn to an aloe-rich hand lotion.

Michelle Obama mixes high and low fashion for the inauguration

President Barack Obama took the oath of office for his second term on Monday morning, but all anyone really wants to talk about is First Lady Michelle Obama – specifically, her inaugural ceremony outfit and new bangs.

Michelle Obama inauguration fashion

According to White House officials, First Lady Michelle Obama opted for a custom-made Thom Browne coat made of silk jacquard. The coat — inspired by a silk neck tie — covered her Reed Krakoff cardigan and Thom Browne dress.

M.O. set off the look with a Cathy Waterman necklace and blue kitten heels by J. Crew. She reportedly switched into Reed Krakoff boots for the actual ceremony — have to keep those tootsies warm in the chilly Washington D.C. temperatures.

Now we can't wait to see what she wears for Monday night's Inaugural Ball!

Get Michelle Obama's bangs

Even the President can't get enough of Michelle's new blunt bangs.

"I love Michelle Obama,"President Obama told a crowd during an inauguration weekend speech. "And to address the most significant event of this weekend, I love her bangs. She looks good. She always looks good."

The look is perfect for the 49-year-old FLOTUS — trendy, but not too trendy.

Of course, we wanted to know how to get the look ourselves. We asked Oprah's favorite hair stylist and Chicago bangs expert George Gonzalez for tips on asking for the same cut at your own salon.

"Michelle Obama's new bang is texturized which gives a softer piecey edge to the normal blunt style," said Gonzalez, owner of George the salon Chicago.

"Straight or slightly wavy strands that are fine to normal will work best for this new 'Obama bang'."

"To achieve, ask your stylist to chip in with the tips of their shears followed by using texturizing scissors to soften the initial cut to finish. Hair types that are very coarse, thick and curly will have a harder time pulling this look off unless you want to take the time to use a blow dryer and flat iron to style. Ideally, straight or slightly wavy strands that are fine to normal will work best for this new 'Obama Bang'."

Pretty sure plenty of ladies are going to be asking for the "Obama bang" in 2013.

Sasha and Malia Obama: Fashion forward at the inauguration

Everyone might be focused on what First Lady Michelle Obama wore to the inauguration, but her daughters -- Sasha and Malia Obama -- were pretty fashion-forward, too.

Sasha Obama, Malia Obama, Michelle Obama at the inauguration

First Lady Michelle Obama mixed high and low pieces for the 2013 Inauguration, but daughters Sasha Obama and Malia Obama kept to their teenage form and opted for youth-friendly designers.

Malia, 14, looked strikingly like her mother in her magenta J. Crew coat — complete with custom buttons — along with violet tights. Eleven-year-old Sasha, on the other hand, opted for a purple Kate Spade coat with gray tights and a striped Kate Spade dress. So cute!

The FLOTUS, on the other hand, opted for a Thom Browne coat and dress, along with a Reed Krakoff cardigan and boots.

It's hard to believe these are the same two girls that we first met four years ago. Both are maturing into beautiful — and playful — young ladies, especially Sasha. The sassy youngster congratulated her dad after he took the official oath on Sunday.

"Good job, Dad," she told President Barack Obama. "You didn't mess up."

Now, onto the official Inaugural Ball, slated for tonight. We can't wait to see what the First Lady and First Daughters will wear, but President Obama is more worried about getting some quality time in with his wife.

"Now that's a tough choice, and I think I'll have to consult with my wife. Last time out, Beyonce sang 'At Last,' Etta James' classic, and that was a pretty good choice. Whatever it is it's got to be a slow song so that I can put my moves on Michelle," the President told Ryan Seacrest of the first song at the ball. "Something a little romantic, you know? I haven't seen her a lot lately. I've been on the road too much."

It's official: First Lady Michelle Obama opted for a ruby red Jason Wu gown for the 2013 Inaugural Ball.

Michelle Obama's red Jason Wu gown

First Lady Michelle Obama made designer Jason Wu into a household name when she opted to wear one of his creations to the 2009 Inaugural Ball. Well, he better be ready for superstardom: Michelle again opted to wear one of his gowns at the 2013 Inaugural Ball.

"I can't believe it. It's crazy," Wu told CBS News Monday night. "To have done it once was already the experience of my life. To have a second time is tremendous."

The ruby red halter gown was adorned with real diamonds — a collaboration with jeweler Kimberly McDonald.

"For this occasion, it had to be real diamonds," Wu said.

Obama added Jimmy Choo shoes and a Kimberly McDonald ring to complete the look.

Not that her husband, President Barack Obama, cares that much. He told the crowd that his wife "makes me a better man and a better president."

"I'm lucky to have her," he added.

All together now: Awww!

The pair danced as Jennifer Hudson sang Al Green's "Let's Stay Together."

We knew M.O. would knock it out of the park during the Ball, especially since she looked so fab during President Obama's swearing-in ceremony on Monday morning. The 49-year-old opted for a Thom Browne coat, J.Crew dress and belt.

Want to get some of it for yourself?

Well, you can't: The Browne coat was custom made, and the J.Crew belt has already sold out.

10 Ways to retain and boost your collagen level

Woman with beautiful skin

Secrets to more youthful skin

Collagen is one of the essential building blocks to smooth, healthy skin, but as we age, collagen diminishes, eventually leading to fine lines and loss of volume. It sucks, we know, but we also have some great tips on how to boost collagen levels in your skin and retain what you’ve got.

We asked Austin-based cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Steven Zimmet, who works with some of the biggest celebrities and high-profile names in the area, for his best tips for boosting and retaining collagen.

1

Practice safe sunning

One of the best ways to retain collagen is to protect skin from the sun, so it's important to apply sunscreen daily. “Ultraviolet radiation from the sun increases skin cancer risk and aging of the skin, including age spots, broken capillaries, wrinkles and coarsening of the skin,” says Zimmet. “Probably about 80 percent of our skin aging is due to the effects of the sun.” He also suggests wearing a large brim hat and protective clothing to further minimize damage from the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

2

Avoid tanning beds

We hope that no one is still risking their health by using tanning beds, but if you are, stop for the sake of your skin. “Although they don’t use UVB rays, and thus sunburns are avoided, the UVA rays they do use penetrate more deeply, and contribute to both skin cancer risk and aging of the skin,” explains Zimmet.

3

Eat well

What you eat can play a significant role in your skin health and your skin’s ability to retain and create new collagen, says Zimmet. “A diet high in antioxidants, fruits and vegetables, is a fundamental way to preserve our collagen and other tissues, and improve our ability to make new collagen,” he explains.

4

Butt out

ciggaratte

If you haven’t resolved to stop smoking yet, we suggest you do — for your health and your skin. “Avoid smoking, which contributes to collagen degradation as well as reducing the ability to make new collagen,” says Zimmet.

5

Apply a good topical antioxidant

We know eating foods rich in antioxidants can be good for the skin but you can also apply them topically . ”There is strong evidence that a good topical antioxidant reduces the injury effects of ultraviolet rays that get through a sunscreen, and some UV rays always gets through a sunscreen,” explains Zimmet.

6

Use retinoids

One of the best ways to reduce the signs of aging and restore collagen is with retinoids. “Retinoids boost collagen production, and diminish fine lines and age spots,” says Zimmet. “There is probably more evidence that these are effective at reducing signs of aging than any other ‘anti-aging’ cream.”

7

Think about Botox

botox

While Botox won’t increase collagen, it helps preserve your existing collagen, says Zimmet. “The muscular contractions used to make expressions crunch and damage collagen over time,” he explains. “Since Botox relaxes muscles of facial expression in the crow’s feet, forehead and frown areas, there is less damage to existing collagen.”

8

Look into ultherapy

A non-surgical way to lift, tighten and tone skin, ultherapy uses high intensity ultrasound to tighten existing collagen and boost new collagen production, explains Zimmet. The procedure is non-invasive and is sometimes referred to as a “non-surgical facelift.”

9

Try radiofrequency treatment

Another non-surgical way to fight the signs of aging and keep skin looking younger is radiofrequency treatment. “This treatment delivers radiofrequency energy to the lower layers of the skin to tighten collagen and stimulate new collagen formation,” explains Zimmet.

10

Fractional laser resurfacing

If you’re looking to improve the appearance of your skin, this treatment could be for you. “It's a laser treatment to tighten skin, boost collagen production to reduce fine lines, acne scars and reduce splotchy sun-damaged pigmentation,” says Zimmet.

Rain, rain, go away... don’t ruin my good hair day! When the weather is wild and unpredictable, there are days where an umbrella just doesn't cut it in terms of protecting your hairstyle. We've polled our users and Facebook fans to find out the best tips for keeping your ‘do in check when Mother Nature has a mood swing.

Jennifer Aniston with wavy hair

Wavy lady

If your hair has even the slightest natural curl or wave, your best bet is to go au naturel. You can use the damp weather to boost your natural waves with a sea salt spray like Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray. Spritz it on damp locks before heading out the door. Gusts of wind will help enhance the natural appeal of this style, maybe giving you a boost in volume. When your locks are subject to raindrops, just scrunch with your hands to revive your waves. Easy, chic and fast!

Taylor Swift's straight hair

Help for straightened hair

We know that, for many women, nothing comes between you and your straightener. We get it! If the weather can’t keep you from your favorite style, you need a product to help with frizz. One of our Facebook fans suggested Redken’s Outshine 01 Anti-Frizz Polishing Milk, which smooths even the thickest, coarsest hair.

Jennifer Lopez with a sock bun

Weather-proof updo

Sock buns and top knots are both great styles to wear when the weather gets gross. Keeping hair off of your neck and out of your face will make you feel more comfortable and less worried about your style. The right finishing product is key for any long lasting style and Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Firm Hairspray protects hair, while the soy seals out humidity.

Fergie with a ponytail

When all else fails

Sometimes the weather is so bad that no hair product or umbrella can save your style. Just in case, carry an elastic and a few bobby pins so you can quickly create a ponytail or messy updo once you’ve arrived at your destination. By wrapping a strand of hair around your elastic, your ponytail becomes instantly chic and appropriate for the office or a date.

Take that, Mother Nature!

The next generation of complexion perfectors, otherwise known as “color corrector” or “coverage control” creams, offer lighter but better coverage than BB cream. These new kids on the beauty block act as a primer, brightener and foundation, while also providing sun protection and anti-aging ingredients, making them even heavier hitters than BB cream. In fact, some CC creams boast as many as 12 functions in one product.

Our pick: Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream .

The next: DD cream

First we had BB, then CC and now get ready for DD cream! Unlike BB and CC cream, recent reports have indicated that DD creams won’t target the complexion, but rather focus on feet and body. These creams are said to be fairly heavy duty in texture and are known as “daily defense” creams. We don't have a pick yet since they have yet to hit the market in the U.S., but we’ll keep you posted!

The interview

The Mentalist star Emmanuelle Chriqui dishes on her beauty secrets, favorite designers and which celeb she’d die to trade closets with right now.

When Emmanuelle waltzed into our interview , she looked absolutely radiant in a super-hot Max Mara jumpsuit and sky-high black heels, beyond excited to chat with us about her beauty must-haves and what drives her style choices.

Mineral Fusion body lotion, shampoo, and conditioner

As we were testing and playing with some of her most covetable Mineral Fusion products — everything from revitalizing body lotion to the prettiest nail polishes — the former Entourage glamour girl filled us in on her beauty routine, favorite red carpet moments and more!

SheKnows: What is your number one secret for keeping your skin glowing?

Emmanuelle Chriqui: Washing off my makeup every night before I go to bed! It’s so important. I’m a big skin girl. I also love to get body scrubs when I can, and use the Mineral Fusion Waterstone Lotion that is clinically proven to keep skin hydrated for 24 hours!

SK: How do you keep your hair looking fabulous and healthy?

EC: I love Mineral Fusion’s Volumizing Shampoo and Conditioner. If I use a shampoo that’s made of unnatural products, it makes my hair limp, and I don’t have that problem with this!

SK: Who are some of your favorite red carpet fashion designers?

EC: I definitely haven’t worn some of my favorite designers. Dior makes some sick gowns. I also love Balmain. Obsessed. If I could wear that all the time, I would love it. It’s sexy, but has that masculine edge to it. I also love vintage Halston and Calvin Klein.

SK: How would you describe your style?

EC: I like to be simple. A simple dress that just looks amazing on your body.

SK: Which celeb would you love to trade closets with if you could?

EC: You know who has the sickest style? Zoe Saldana! Stunning. Always simple, refined and sexy. She’s never trying too hard. Joy Bryant also has great style.

What your clothing choices communicate to men

What
do your fashion choices say?

Concerned about what that low-cut top will say to your date? Don’t worry — we called in the experts to find out for sure!

Low-cut tops and short hemlines

Tip: Learn how to stay classy in crop tops. Click here!

Anything too short or too low-cut says that you’re trying too hard and that you may be promiscuous, says Alan Au, VP of Jimmy Au’s For Men 5’8” And Under. "If you’re going to be fashionably provocative, wear a shorter skirt or a lower cut top, but not both at the same time. Pick one or the other.”

The “kitchen-sink” look

Believe it or not, guys don’t care about trends, notes Rebecca Raskind, VP of CLD Style House & PR and dating expert for the site ThreeDayRule.com. "You could be wearing every trend in the book — neon jewelry, spiked Jeffrey Campbell platforms, a leopard print jacket, harem pants and a cropped bustier — but unless this is your everyday style and you are completely confident in it, steer clear of mega-trendy items. Your guy wants to date you, not a street-style caricature.”

"Women who take better care of themselves and don't get lax with their looks
tend to have better relationships."

sweatpantsSloppy casual clothes

Yes, there are occasions where a more relaxed look makes sense, explains Raskind. "For example, maybe your date is taking you to a yoga class and then out to lunch or a baseball game. You would certainly look out of place in a skirt and heels here. However, you should still make some effort. Oversized sweats, a baggy hoodie, messy hair and no makeup communicates that you simply don’t care… at all.”

Super structured outfits

Women's clothing choices can communicate so many things to men, says fashion stylist and plus-size style expert Marcy Guevara from The Marcy Minute!"Sweats and a messy ponytail may send the message that you're apathetic, uninterested or aloof, while anything too structured or super polished can give off the impression that you’re high-maintenance. When going on a first date, it's important to show that you care enough about the date with good grooming and a nice outfit, yet that you aren't desperate. So save the LBD for a sexy night out or a special occasion.”

"When going on a first date, it's important to show that you care enough about the date
with good grooming and a nice outfit,
yet that you aren't desperate."

Lingerie

Attached? Dimitri James, CEO of Skinn Cosmetics and author of Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls, urges women to always keep in mind the power of lingerie. "Your husband/boyfriend didn't get in a relationship with the cook or the cleaning lady — he married his girlfriend. Remember to turn it on for your mate. If he sees you walking around the house in old, frumpy sweats all the time, that's the way he’ll start to remember you. I believe that women who take better care of themselves and don't get lax with their looks tend to have better relationships.”

Oversized handbags

Leave the big bag at home! "It will unconsciously send the message that you're 'carrying baggage,’” says stylist Alexandra Suzanne Greenwalt, creator of Iconify Me and author of Secrets of a Fashion Stylist.

Friday's Fashion Obsessions: Kate Mara and Jessica Alba

$

Kate Mara and Jessica Alba's beautiful celebrity styles made us do a double take this week! We're telling you why in this week's installment of Friday’s Fashion Obsessions.

Kate Mara

Kate Mara

Who ever said yellow was mellow? Kate Mara totally popped on the red carpet this week in London at the premiere for The House of Cards, and I'm rethinking my feelings for the bright color.

You're either a yellow person or not — there's really no in between. But after seeing the pretty shade that Kate sported with this high-low dress, I kinda feel like I need to reconsider my aversion to yellow. The high-low hemline is so on trend right now, and the color works quite well with Kate's complexion. Something else I'm crushing on? That gorgeous collar necklace.

The final verdict? I love that Kate pulled her hair back with such a statement-making dress, and kept to a simple color code. The accents of purple complement the bright yellow hue and don't take away from the beautiful hemline.

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba has blossomed into quite the fashionista over the past few years! And the actress impressed me this week with the super cute velvet coat she rocked at Paris Fashion Week.

Say what you want about velvet — I know, I know, some of you hate it! — but I love the regal material. On a coat, it can be either tacky or oh so chic, and luckily Jessica achieved the latter here. I'm a huge fan of a statement coat. Seriously, it almost doesn't even matter what you wear underneath! — and Jessica rocked this look from head to toe, keeping things nearly monochromatic in varying dark shades.

The final verdict? Is Jessica French? 'Cuz she sure does that have je ne sais quoi. The bold pop of red lips, the tied back hair, the dark color scheme: It's all tres chic to me.

Celeb Hairstyle of the Week: Tina Fey

Tina Fey at the 2013 Golden Globes

We're obsessed!

We have a total crush on Tina Fey's chic 'do. Find out why in this week's installment of Celeb Hairstyle of the Week!

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler rocked the Golden Globes last week but I wasn't really paying that much attention to Ms. Fey's hosting skills. Instead, I was hooked on her fab hair! The retro wavy look she wore with her L'Wren Scott cocktail dress brought me back to the glamorous ladies of days past, and I loved that.

Since I'm so obsessed with Tina's 'do, I turned to Remington Celebrity Stylist Richard Marin to get the scoop on how he created this standout look.

Get the look

"Tina's look this year was classic retro reboot! The first look was inspired by her black and white L'Wren Scott cocktail dress. I went for a '40s Rita Hayworth style — soft, S pattern waves.

  1. To get this look yourself, blow dry your hair and establish a side part.
  2. Set the hair in hot rollers and stack the rollers from the side part one on top of the other so it's a crown of curlers.
  3. Keep the crown area of the head as flat as possible while the back length is set on large rollers.
  4. After hair has cooled to room temperature, brush out several times, pushing in the S pattern with your brush and keeping the hair as smooth as possible.
  5. Spray a humidity resistant hair spray to protect from moisture and reduce the amount of frizz.

Friday's Fashion Fails: Snooki and Phoebe Price

Oops... even celebrities get it wrong sometimes! We're telling you why Snooki and Phoebe Price's fashions fell short in our weekly feature. Learn from the stars' sartorial slip ups!

Snooki at the launch of her new fragrance 'Snooki Couture'

Snooki

Minnie Mouse meets Jersey Shore! Check out what our favorite MTV meatball, Snooki, wore to the NYC launch of her new fragrance, Snooki Couture .

We do love lace, but Snooks has this trend all wrong. The cutout armholes showing off her tattoos look a little trashy for the new mom and she could have lost the belt as well. But we're really wondering what's happening on top of her head and on her feet!

The giant bow on top of her ginger hair has got to go. We'd prefer it if she'd stick to the hair accessory she's known for: the pouf. And what's going on with the sky-high platform heel-less shoes? You aren't Lady Gaga, girlfriend.

The final verdict? Lace should be feminine and classy. We know it's a stretch for you, Snooki, but if you have the audacity to launch a couture perfume, you had better be ready to step up your own style accordingly!

Phoebe Price at Sundance

Phoebe Price

We have two questions: What is Phoebe Price doing at Sundance and what is she wearing? In case you haven't heard of her, Phoebe is a D-list actress, and if you ask us, the D stands for fashion disaster.

Let's begin with the ridiculous cow hat she's wearing. That could be cute if you were under 10 years old, but on an adult, it's just silly. And then there's her sweater coat, which is dragging on the ground. Didn't she pack a coat for Sundance, or was she hoping to score a free one at the swag suites?

Finally, she paired a striped sweater dress with animal print tights and topped it all off with totally unnecessary belts.

The final verdict? The best part of her ensemble is her cute puppy, and he's better dressed than his owner, too. Take it easy on the animal prints and the animal headgear, please and thanks.

What's in Miss America's beauty bag? We know!

Mallory Hagan

Chatting with the winner of Miss America is always a pleasure, but it's always hard not to stare. Mallory Hagan is spunky and drop dead gorgeous obviously, but we found the beauty to be surprisingly down to earth.

Down to earth beauty

We wanted to find out how she manages to stay so pretty and what it took to take home the crown.

"It's a whole other world down there... you blow dry your hair every day and you put on a ton of makeup; it's just different."

Mallory Hagan, also known as Miss America, is also Miss New York. In fact, the 23-year-old, who hails from Alabama, is the first Miss New York to win the title since Vanessa Williams in 1984. The drought for New Yorkers to bring home the crown has finally ended.

Hagan is a spunky gal who loves life and is not afraid to speak out for the causes she believes in. When asked how she feels about her win, she says, "I think it's going to sink into me later as I travel more and more," she says. "Right now I feel as though I'm doing what I'm doing before I left, but when I get to the Super Bowl, I'll realize it."

Artistry Enchanted makeupHagan's beauty routine

When she lived in Alabama, Hagan says her attitude towards grooming was definitely different. "It's a whole other world down there... you blow dry your hair every day and you put on a ton of makeup; it's just different." A New York minute is pretty much what Hagan has these days, and that's why she likes to keep things simple. "I need to find a happy medium now as Miss America," she laughs.

If you ask Hagan, she'd tell you that inner beauty — no matter how cliched that may sound — is way more impressive because it shows your radiance. She also really likes Artistry, the official beauty sponsor of Miss America, and the neutral colors they have. Indeed, their new spring collection, which will be available online in March, is all about cool pastels and soft shades.

Her biggest tip for those aspiring to participate in Miss America? Perseverance is key. But Mallory also candidly admits that even if she wasn't going to win the pageant, she was going to walk away learning a ton — which is itself, a winning attitude.

Her favorite product from the brand? Artistry liquid liner! "With their liner, my makeup stays so well and comes off easily." Other faves? Mascara and Artistry light up lip gloss.

Enchanted Garden spring launch from Artistry

While chatting with Hagan, we got the scoop on Artistry's new product launches! Two collections, Enchanted Rose and Lily, add sparkle and a coy innocence this spring. It's about pastels — but of the glimmering kind. There are new products that are perfect for your purse, including the new dual-phase Water Color Eye Shadows from the Enchanted Rose collection that look and feel liquid but immediately turn to a silky powder finish upon application. The result is a soft, blendable shimmer.

The cheeks are lit with a soft, luminous finish with the Sequined Peach Sheer Cheek Color . You may want to stock up on the Lip Gloss Duo which features neutral and not over-the-top shades. Then there's the Enchanted Lily collection which features a Soft Rose Sheer Cheek Color and a Port Wine Eyeliner Pencil .

The best way to get the Enchanted Lily look?

  1. Color your entire eyelid with a shimmery eye color like the Golden Sunset Eye Color, and take care to soften the edges with your fingers or with a brush.
  2. Blend a darker shade like the Twilight Eye Color into the crease.
  3. Apply a darker eye color like the Midnight Star Eye Color along the upper lash line and over the outer corner, and soften with a fingertip.
  4. Smudge the Port Wine Eyeliner Pencil along the lower lash line and blend into the lash roots. It's all about creating the smoky eye with this pencil.
  5. Don't forget to add mascara and a soft blush, as well as the soft rose sheer cheek color to the apples of your cheeks.
  6. Shimmer your lips with the dual lip gloss, and you're set!

Busy Philipps: Baby bumpin' at the SAG Awards

SheKnows Mommaloguer Busy Philipps walked the red carpet at the 2013 SAG Awards with her baby bump in full view. Now that's how you do pregnancy fashion!

Busy Philipps at the 2013 SAG Awards

Busy Philipps had a big predicament while getting dressed for the 2013 SAG Awards: Show off the baby belly, or hide it?

"It was hard to decide which way to go. Do you hide the bump, do you show it off?" the mommy-to-be told E! on the SAG Awards red carpet. "I went with show it off! I embraced it!"

And we're glad she did!

The SheKnows Mommaloguer showcased her growing belly in a blue Gabriela Cadena gown, complete with Irene Neuwirth earrings, Brian Atwood heels and a Judith Lieber clutch.

Her red carpet prep wasn't without a few dramatic moments, though.

"Just had my very 1st awards show drama! The beautiful necklace for the @SAGawards BROKE as I was trying it on! Will it get fixed in time?!"

Luckily, she did.

Busy is an old hat at pregnant red carpet looks, though. She was pregnant with her daughter, Birdie, during the SAG Awards five years ago. The problem? Someone else snagged her dress.

"I ended up getting an amazing dress," she told People, "and then much to my chagrin, five weeks later, pregnant Angelina Jolie wore it, which is devastating. Really? You want to be wearing the same dress as the sexiest woman alive? It’s terrible."

You're at the top of our list as sexiest, Busy!
