More: Dolce & Gabbana releases first ever hijab collection (PHOTOS)
Dolce & Gabbana's latest collection may be their attempt at an apology to the gay community as they roll out handbags and T-shirts featuring same-sex couples.
Co-founder Stefano Gabbana took to Instagram to share pictures of the new collection along with the hashtag #dgfamily. The beautiful thing about this collection is that it understands that family comes in many different shapes and forms, as it features images of multiracial and same-sex families instead of focusing solely on the traditional family structure (a man and woman with two children).
It seems that the Italian brand is now firmly focused on inclusion: one image portrays a lesbian couple holding their two children and another shows a multiracial gay couple.

A second shows a range of T-shirts and the third image shows three models sporting white T-shirts featuring the same motif as the handbags, along with a single crown logo.

Comments on the images are relatively mixed.
"Ridiculously trying to fix what you said about homoparental families #not," commenter gercuevas wrote.
"little & too late," hongersstoo agreed.
"I wan [sic] one! Too bad it will cost like a thousand €" sgburigom wrote.
Other positive comments include, "Amazing," "So Gorgeous!" and "Bravo!"
The collection comes at an important time in Italy, as the country considers passing a bill that would legalise same-sex unions across the country — a move that has already received a lot of resistance as hundreds of thousands of Italians protested against the bill in Rome last week.
The new collection may not be enough to earn forgiveness from everyone for the designers' earlier views on IVF babies and gay adoption but it could be a step in the right direction.
