The 23-year-old made her debut as a female runway model Monday during the Giles Deacon show at London Fashion Week. The gorgeous Pejic walked alongside fellow models Kendall Jenner and Lily Donaldson wearing a dramatic Victorian high-collared blouse with a bow and black coat, along with a dark gothic lip — and her impossibly high cheekbones.
The model — born Andrej Pejic — underwent sex reassignment therapy last spring, though she recently told Style.com that she's known since age 13 that transitioning from male to female "was always something I needed to do."
Pejic's next plans? To break more ground in the work of beauty, though that is more of a challenge because "you have to prove to them over and over that you are liked by people, you have a skill and you can sell a product."
Something tells us she's breaking through that barrier, too. For now, she's happy to model as a woman — and, most importantly, she's now comfortable in her own skin. "It makes me feel freer than ever," she added to Style.com. "Now I can stand naked in front of a mirror and really enjoy my reflection. And those personal moments are important."
