The single life certainly agrees with Britney Spears!
The "Scream and Shout" singer walked the red carpet at Elton John's AIDS Foundation Oscar-viewing party on Sunday night with a dramatically different look. Most notably, she's sporting much darker hair.
Spears, 31, paired her new brown strands with a gorgeous Michael Cinco Couture dress and Saint Laurent shoes. It wasn't a last-minute decision, either: Her colorist, Brittany Hunter, told E! News that they've been planning the switch for about a month.
"We wanted to make sure she was going to be committed to it before we made the change, as it can be a difficult process going from light blonde to brunette," the Mark Slicker Salon stylist said. "We started the process on Thursday and then finished it up on Sunday. We wanted to make sure the color was going to stick and it wasn't going to fade."
Why brown? Spears wanted a more mature look closer to her natural hair color.
"I wanted to keep her as close to her natural color as possible, so not too dark," Hunter added. "In the end we went with a very natural and rich light brown. We wanted the right tone that would complement her skin color."
The hair pro — who has worked with Spears since 2011 — said the singer is happy with it and will keep the hue for the foreseeable future.
"I do think she will stick with it. She seems very happy."
