Lisa Aharon had some help when coming up with Florence Welch's makeup look for the 2013 Grammy Awards. Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci already knew what he wanted on Welch's face to accentuate the gorgeous, jewel-toned gown.
"[He] had visions of a dark brown–toned lip with the dress. Florence wanted a sultry eye, so I tried to marry the two," Aharon said, adding that she used Laura Mercier makeup for the look.
Lips
The "rich brown lip" was Welch's favorite part of the look, according to Aharon. To create the look, she first added Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Merlot .
She then added Laura Mercier Lip Pencil in Coffee Bean "from the center of the lip outward, to avoid sharp lines and cool down the redness of the lip color."
Eyes
Welch really "wanted a sultry eye" for the Grammys, so Aharon added "a little golden metallic shadow to the inner corner of the eyes to mimic the shine" of the green gown. Aharon first added Laura Mercier Eye Canvas to the "Shake It Out" singer's eyelids to create a smooth canvas and to "hold the shadow all night long."
Aharon then added Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Café au Lait around the eye and blended it outward.
She patted Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colour in Cedar to the center of the lid below the crease to "create dimension." Then she added Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Gilded Moonlight to the inner corners of both eyes to "open them up and make them pop."
Finally, she lined the singer's lash line with Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Special Brown and added Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black to the singer's lashes.
The most surprising part? No falsies were used!
"Using this mascara is more than enough!" Aharon said.
Face
Welch has naturally glowing skin, so Aharon played that up by first cleansing the singer's skin with RéVive Tonique Préparatif .
Then she applied RéVive Intensité Crème Lustre moisturizer to "combat dryness and provide radiance."Next, Aharon added RéVive Les Yeux Pressé under Welch's eyes to hydrate the delicate eye area because "it's not too creamy under makeup."
Immediately afterward, she highlighted the singer's face with Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Foundation in Porcelain Ivory , using a damp sponge. She added a few dabs of Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage to hide any imperfections.
Finally, she contoured the red-headed beauty's cheekbones using the new Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Bronze-02 . She finished the look with Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight-01 to the top side of the cheekbones.
"I didn't use blush, so I wanted a little something extra on the face," Aharon said.
The result? A look as perfect as Welch's voice.
