If the answer is "yes," then you'll love the latest idea from Cardiff's Bauhaus Hair Salon: the "quiet chair." The quiet chair allows you to book an appointment and sit in silence for the duration of it. This means you no longer have to exert any effort or divulge information about the awful Tinder date you went on last Saturday or your holiday plans for next summer.
Speaking of the ingenious idea, Bauhaus salon owner Scott Miller told Wales Online that he and his staff understand that sometimes people want to just turn off and relax.

"Our team is full of brilliant conversationalists — it's an important part of being a hair stylist, and most of our customers love coming in to have a chat," Miller said. "But at the same time, we understand people lead busy lives where they may have been communicating with people all day and want some relief."
"A trip to the hair salon is supposed to be relaxing, and while for some people that means catching up on what's been going on in their lives, not everybody is comfortable with small talk."
The salon's patrons are able to request the quiet chair over the phone or when they walk in, and Miller says this helps remove the "embarrassment" for those patrons who really really don't want to talk (but may be afraid of coming across as rude).

"We wanted to take the embarrassment away, and for customers to know we won't be offended if they don't want to do the small talk often associated with visiting the hair salon," he added.
And if you need to talk about your hair, well, it's not like you're banished from speaking at all.
"Of course, we'll talk to them about their hair and what they want, but apart from that, they'll be able to enjoy the experience in silence and read a magazine uninterrupted if they want to," Miller added.
