DIY Whipped Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub

Supplies

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup brown or white sugar (I used both for the scent of the brown sugar)
  • 1/2 cup liquid Castile soap (recipe here
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Dash of nutmeg
  • Wide mouth mason jar
  • Stand mixer or hand mixer

Directions

  1. In your stand mixer or in a metal bowl, whip the coconut oil with a hand mixer. I used my stand mixer and the whisk attachment, starting on medium and working my way to high and then letting it whip for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the soap in a slow stream and mix on low.
  3. Add the olive oil slowly and mix on low.
  4. Finally, add the cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and nutmeg.
  5. Turn off the mixer and add the white or brown sugar. Your sugar scrub will probably be foamy because of the Castile soap, but it will settle down.
  6. When the bubbles are gone, pour it in to a mason jar.

To use, scoop a few tablespoons into your hair and rub in circles on your hands, arms and body. Don't use this scrub on your delicate facial skin. Use once a week to exfoliate your skin and keep your skin soft and smooth.

The addition of the Castile soap helps cut down on the oily feel. If you use it before going to bed, don't wash your hands and let the oil nourish your hands all night.
