Dolce & Gabbana's latest ads, while featuring their fair share of gorgeous, leggy models, also went out on a limb to feature something else, something very real, indeed. One of the most talked about shots from their Spring/Summer 2015 ad campaign is this beautiful shot of three Italian grandmothers sitting together. See below:

They are beautiful, true. They are adorable, also true. They are real. They are the kinds of women one might really see passing by a park bench in Florence. They have a kind of beauty that might not win big points on runways, but brings us all back to some of our most cherished memories, of family holidays, and cozy get-togethers.
There is something so genuine in that kind of beauty. It is refreshing to see a major fashion house choose a more subtle, everyday kind of beauty for their ad campaign. We have a long, long way to go before aging is considered as beautiful as it should be, but this might be a start.
It's true that much declines as we age. It's also true that so much of the beauty industry revolves around keeping us young forever. But guess what? It doesn't work. We can either age gracefully or fight it tooth and nail and end up looking worse anyway thanks to plastic surgeries, strange creams and injections galore.
Here are three grandmothers enjoying their lives, says Dolce & Gabbana. They haven't been botoxed to death or had six facelifts. Every line shows. Their hair is gray. They have laugh lines. They are beautiful. We need more of this.
