In an effort to help any curvy girls out there who may not feel inclined, be confident enough to show some skin or even know where to get the right costume to do so... this is my second plus-size costume roundup for SheKnows and this year I went dark. I am not sure if it's that I'm feeling broody or that these just caught my eye, but let's see what tricks and treats I found for you.
Let's break down the options...
Sexy cop and firefighter
If you want to go full Mean Girls, opt for a sexy cop or firefighter. You'll be putting out fires right and left wherever you go. I had some serious shapewear on here, and you can see I let the lace shorts of my shapewear show. Depending on the vibe you're going for, dare to bare what you will. Add J.Lo-style aviators or a helmet to top off either of these looks. The cop costume, complete with all the props you need is from plus-size retail giant Torrid, whose costume options are wide and go up to a 4X, while the firefighter came from Target whose costumes range all the way to XXL (or a size 18/20).
Sassy pirate and queen of hearts
Next up is the sassy/sultry style you vixens out there want. Hips and Curves is known for having the sexiest lingerie out there for us plus-size girls and come October their Halloween garb is to die for. Check out all of their seductive styles and find something just right for you. Are you a Queen of Hearts or more of a pirate wench? They've got it all.
Adorable witch
If you're looking for something to wear to school, the office or maybe a family party, opt for this adorable witch getup from Target. I love the look, it is flattering, comfortable and affordable. I was in the XXL, but XL would have fit fine, so if you're a 14/16 go with XL or even L, as I normally wear an 18/20. Target has great plus-size costume options.
Sultry bits and bobs
Now for a little sultry flavor without going all out, opt for any of these adorable accessories from curvy girl fave, Domino Dollhouse. From kitty cats to bunny ears, they've got lots of sassy bits and bobs to get you into the spirit of things. For my sexy bunny look, I opted for a simple plus-size body con from SWAK Designs.
I hope these ideas have helped spark your imagination and given you some ideas for what you might be this Halloween. Shop fast and have fun as many of these quantities are limited. I always suggest shopping as early in advance as possible so you have lots of time to try, alter and return. With the awesome return policies that so many of these online retailers have, there is no excuse for you not to look fab this fright night.
XOXO,
