But then there's Jenna Lyons, who I'm pretty sure is my alter ego, strutting around Fashion Week looking all cool and casual and suddenly I feel a lot better about the fashion "rules" I break. I can shed some guilt for layering a few things, throwing on some jewelry and lip gloss and calling it fashionable.
You see, every season the same so-called trends come back into the spotlight and after a while it all starts to feel very basic. I know, I know. Basic is a bad word in fashion these days. Well, confession. Those are my favorite trends. The red lipstick that voids a need for all other makeup, the easy floral prints that make simple tops look fancy. Yes, please.
Enter Jenna Lyons, creative director for J.Crew, who sticks to what she knows but always looks like the coolest girl on the block, making the most basic trends fashion forward. Isn't that what we all love about shopping at J.Crew? A chance to be fashiony without having to wear weird strappy gladiator sandal boots with the fur?
So guys, this is how to attend Fashion Week:
1. In bright green pants that could easily be your grandma's, but are so much cooler.

Bottom line: Fashion is as simple as being yourself.
