A special Fashion Week message from Kelly Bensimon

As Ulta's Fashion Week ambassador, Kelly Bensimon sat front row at Fashion Week and also got to hang backstage to scope out some model behavior beauty tips. While waiting for Whitney Eve to start, SheKnows had a fashion chat with Kelly and she even sent us a special message before we caught up with her backstage.

SheKnows: What do you think are the top beauty trends for spring 2013?

Kelly: Mascara, colored eyeliner, blush tones in makeup, soft green, pale mauve, soft gray for nails or nail graffiti. Some of my favorite makeup trends have been the bright blues like Song from Zoya. It's the new red. I am also obsessed with Maybelline Baby Lips which makes your lips kissable, and with the palettes of Too Faced. Lastly, your smoky eye becomes even more alluring with the naked 2palette by Urban Decay.

SheKnows: What trends and designers stood out to you last week?

Kelly: The biggest trend for S/S13 is the colorway. There are a lot of blush tones in the clothes for spring '13. Femininity is definitely a strong trend, as is the ultimate American old guard girl look.

SheKnows: What do you think of all the fun prints we’re seeing?

Kelly: We've seen a lot of prints. When I was at Carlos Miele , it was a jungle sensation which was so much fun. Whitney Port [also] has fun with prints and it's definitely exciting to see that playfulness for spring.

SheKnows: What were your top three favorite shows?

Kelly: I call it the Kelly season because it's everything I love! I loved Jill Stuart and I wear a lot of her clothes. I loved the pale palette and longer skirts. I was honestly the most surprised by Dennis Basso's uber glamorous gowns, especially in cobalt blue.

SheKnows: What trends are you most excited to try?

Kelly: I'm really excited to try the softer eye. As you can see from the pictures of me this week, there's been a lot of smoky eye, but I'm kind of excited to let the smoky eye have a little breather and hibernate for a while.
