The app promises to be Shazam for fashion. See someone wearing an outfit on the street you absolutely must have? Snap a picture with your smartphone, and the Style Thief app will use its image recognition software to find the same look through partner e-commerce sites and sell it to you with one easy click. It's what Bosworth and her Style Thief team have termed the "Snap and Steal."

"Everyone has fashion envy," Bosworth told WWD. "Everyone can relate to that feeling of looking at an editorial, for example — or a friend, or the runway, for that matter — wanting to steal something exactly as you’re seeing it, or something similar."

Bosworth, 31, has been a fashion fave for years and recently designed her very own lines for Topshop. In 2010, she launched a subscription-based accessories line called JewelMint.

Along with her director husband, Michael Polish, whom she named Style Thief's chief creative officer, Bosworth hopes the app will take off and hints to WWD that she might be designing products herself for the app in the future.

Style Thief uses a program called Cortexica for its image search and recognition functionality and hopes, like Amazon, to provide a one-click shopping experience. It also includes features that set notices to alert users when items go on sale, and it even offers searches based on color or pattern.
