1. The problem: Flat hair

"I have long, red wavy hair, and my biggest summer hair problem is flatness and dealing with the heat. The heat causes my hair to lose its moisture and it ends up getting flat on top while the rest is full; it makes me feel like my head looks like a broom!" – Lynae

The solution: Make sure you are using the right products before you blow dry, says Julia. If you have fine hair, prep your locks with a volumizing product, such as Green & Glam's Volumizing Spray (Organicbeautynow.com, $29). Spritz at the root and blow dry. To help the style stay, blast your hair with cold air to lock it in.

2. The problem: Frizzy hair

"One word: frizz! My naturally curly hair grows like a Chia Pet when it's hot and humid out." – Olivia

The solution: To fight frizz in the summer make sure to always smooth the cuticle. Start this process when you are drying your hair by patting the hair dry as opposed to rubbing it, advises Julia. A smooth cuticle will not only look shinier, but much healthier too. Also remember to utilize an anti-frizz serum. Serums help to block humidity, which leads to frizz. Julia's favorite? Rene Furterer Myrrhea Silkening Fluid (Dermstore.com, $20).

3. The problem: Hair color fade

"I'm a natural brunette but dye my hair a darker shade of brown and hate how the color fades so fast in the summer, particularly after being at the pool a lot." – Kaitlin

The solution: Chemicals can cause color fading, so before swimming, remember to saturate your hair with water, recommends Julia. This will diminish the amount of chlorine your hair absorbs. Also, remember to wash your hair with a color protecting shampoo directly after a dip in the pool to help prevent color fade.

4. The problem: Dry hair

"My biggest summer hair problem is dry hair. It gets environmental damage as is, but add salt water, chlorine and UVA/UVB rays and it's so much worse!" – Haley

The solution: When your hair gets dry in the summer, start the battle with a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. For extra moisture, Julia suggests adding a deep conditioner like Kerastase NutriDefense (Amazon.com, $56) once a week to the ends of your hair.

5. The problem: Sweaty hair

"My hair gets super sweaty and gross during the summertime, particularly after hitting the gym. I feel like I have to wash it every day, which I know isn't good for it. I'm not sure how to keep it looking fresh without showering though." – Carin

The solution: If you want to skip the everyday washing, it's time to invest in some dry shampoo. Blast your sweaty locks with a cold shot from the blow dryer and once the sweat has started to dry, spray in some dry shampoo at the root, says Julia. To avoid any white residue, use your fingers to blend in the product and finish with another blast from the dryer.
