Pear shape

You may have some junk in the trunk, but lucky for you, like the booytlicious Kim Kardashian your tiny waist looks killer in a crop top. Take a style cue from the star and draw attention to your upper half by pairing a curve-hugging high-waisted skirt with a fitted crop top that shows off only a smidgen of skin. Your proportions will be perfectly balanced.

Apple shape

You tend to carry your weight in your stomach, sure, but don't let that stop you from hopping on the crop top trend train stat. The key to balancing your body out and camouflaging a tummy is picking a crop top in a darker hue with embellishments or cutouts around the neckline or shoulders. Make sure your bottoms meet your top so a tiny sliver of skin (or none at all) is peeking out.

Rectangle shape

A recent study found that a whopping majority (over half) of women have a rectangular shaped body, which is characterized by a relatively undefined waist. To add some definition and curves, plus play up those slender arms and legs, opt for a cropped tank in a longer and looser fit styled with a pair of skin-tight skinny jeans.

Broad shoulders

Believe it or not, broad shoulders and crop tops do mix. You'll simply want to find one that directs the eye up and down as opposed to straight across. For example, a crop top with soft shoulders (like a halter) or a scoop or V-neck cropped tee is a fab choice. Pair yours with a fuller skirt on bottom and you're ready to hit the town.

Athletic

If you're athletic or have a long torso, you can pretty much sport any type of crop top in the book. For toned bodies, however, a feminine shirt is a must. Think crop tops with girly details, such as ruffles and lace. Self conscious about your arm muscles? Then choose a shirt with short sleeves. Alternatively, if you want to show off all that hard work at the gym, go sleeveless. An A-line skirt will accentuate your waist beautifully.

Big bust

If you're a busty gal, why not look to Kim K. (again) for some crop-top inspiration? The reality star often rocks crop tops with high necklines in a super-stretchy material that actually makes her chest appear smaller. Steer clear of prints and stick to solid colors, and you'll be just fine.

A bustier crop top will lift your ladies right up and give you that sexy hint of cleavage you're looking for. You can also boost your perceived breast size with a pretty pattern that highlights your chest area, ruffles or even pockets (basically anything that adds volume up top and creates the illusion of bigger boobs). Remember to keep your bottom half simple so as not to overwhelm.

Chambray Dot Bustier Top (Delias.com, $27); White High Waisted Stretch Shorts (Riverisland.com, $50); Jeffrey Campbell Atherton D'Orsays (Anthropologie.com, $148)
