Nicole Richie
This is what Nicole Richie wore for the AOL Upfronts to announce another season of her online show #CandidlyNicole, and we've got to be completely candid and up front: We're not loving this look. From her lilac locks to the jingleball-embellished dress, Nicole made a misstep.
We know purple streaks are a trend but this hue makes the 32-year-old mom of two look like an alien. After we finally stopped staring at her hair, we see she chose a dress that looks like a studded punk rock diaper with that strange pointed piece in front. It's actually by Anthony Vaccarello from his Spring 2014 collection, but seems like something better suited as a cute onesie for her son Sparrow. Just add a snap between the legs and voila.
The final verdict? We expect more from fashionista Nicole, but hopefully she'll redeem herself at the next red carpet event. Her Jimmy Choo rope stiletto sandals are super sexy though, so she can keep those around.
Carrie Underwood
Carrie Underwood couldn't decide if she wanted to go girlie or gothic for the Time 100 Most Influential gala in NYC, so she did both. For the swanky event, the country crooner donned a Claire Pettibone pastel gown that's got too much print going on for our taste.
There's already a pattern on the lilac bodice of the gown, along with a black mesh overlay, big flowers embroidered on top and a train. Is this her best evil stepsister look? The black overlay adds bulk to the look and clashes with the princess feel to the rest of the dress. We'd much prefer this frock without the unnecessary layer and giant floral accents.
The final verdict? We recommend that Carrie pick an aesthetic for the night and stick to it instead of trying to straddle the fence in this discombobulated dress. At least her romantic retro waves and soft, pretty makeup get the thumbs up from us.
