Rock orange in your wardrobe

We love Orange Is the New Black as much as the next girl. But who knew the hit TV show would kick off such a hot runway trend? Orange (which is the color of warmth, BTW) was seen everywhere at New York Fashion Week this spring. From tangerine dresses to citrus shoes, the happy hue combines all the cheerfulness and sunshine of yellow with the fiery nature of red. In fact, if you want to stand out from the crowd without being too loud, science suggests you choose orange — it’s a statement-making color, yet it’s not too risky of a hue for the average gal. Need a quick pick-me-up? Orange is optimistic, so it's sure to elevate your spirits whenever you're feeling blue. Plus, it’s said to evoke enthusiasm, so the next time you need to get your butt up off the couch and get your fitness on, reach for those bright orange shorts, boo.

Add some orange to your space

Hoping to impress your boss and get a jump-start on that new project at work? As if you needed another reason to add some orange to your home office, according to the principles of feng shui, it’s the absolute best color for productivity. It stimulates concentration, helps you focus on the task at hand and also promotes the power of organization, which is perfect if your place looks like a total hot mess. (Don’t worry, we’re not here to judge.) If tapping into your creative side is more your issue, plop down in an orange chair and let your imagination run wild, as it’s said that the color inspires creativity. Be sure to keep the orange hues bright and bold, though, if your goal is to get your work done as fast as humanly possible (duh!).

Brighten your beauty routine with a pop of orange

From bold blush and bright eye shadow to look-at-me lipstick, we dare you to brighten up your face and your day with a pretty pop of orange makeup. Please stick to highlighting one feature, though. (Unless you want to look like Bozo the Clown. Then by all means, go for it.) For example, if you’re planning on rocking an in-your-face orange pout, it’s best keep the rest of your makeup fairly simple and let your lips do all the talking. And trust us, they will.

Now, as far as your hair goes, take a cue from Hollywood’s leading ladies and have some fun with hair chalk. Just don’t get too crazy. As for your nails, orange is always an on-trend summer color, so why not try a happy-go-lucky ombre manicure to get the party started?
