Shakira's hair has us flabbergasted

Her color is perfection. It's a little-known fact that Shakira actually isn't a natural blond and was born with dark hair, but you could never tell from her honey blond hue with perfectly sun-kissed highlights.

It's totally touchable. Those loose waves are just begging for you to run your fingers through them. Even Shakira herself couldn't resist tousling her own tresses.

She can work a serious side part. Lots of women are scared to try anything except a center part, but the hot mama showed off a major side part at the ACMs.

It was made to be blown by the breeze. Gusts of wind are not our hair's friend, but the 37-year-old manages to make windblown hair look glam while singing on The Today Show in New York City.

It looks amazing when worn natural. She's one of those rare lucky ladies who has beautiful curls that look awesome air dried, no curling iron required.

Shakira's hair also can be worn short. Most people who've got such lovely long locks wouldn't dream of chopping them, but Shak cut hers into an asymmetrical bob in 2011, which also looked amazing.

It's her best accessory. Sure, her shades and black leather jacket are pretty cool, but she'd look just as good without them thanks to that hair.

Her coif is super cute in braids or updos, too. Shakira knows braided looks aren't just for teenagers and shows us how it's done in this pretty side plait yet again. We get it, you're perfect. Now can we get the name of your stylist already?

Celeb Hairstyle of the Week: Paris Hilton

So, whose amazing hair am I crushing on this week? Paris Hilton's flirty curly/braided combo! The socialite worked the bold 'do at a recent event and paired it with a sparkly LBD and girly makeup. I'm dying to know how to recreate her 'do, so I turned to Nick Penna, creative director and co-founder of Boston's Be Styled. Check out his step-by-step tips for scoring Paris' look!

Get the look

  1. At Be Styled, we call this look “be swirly” — it’s one of our most popular style requests because it’s fun, looks natural and easily transitions to any occasion. To begin, start with hair smooth and completely blown out.
  2. With a 1-1/2-inch curling iron, curl each section in the desired direction.
  3. Hold hair with fingers and wrap around the barrel, and as you work toward the front of the face, work the curling iron back off the face for a framing effect.
  4. When finished, lightly brush or use fingers to stretch curls to create an “imperfect” and naturally curly look.
  5. After completing the curled look, this is where you release your inner stylist and begin the cornrow style braid starting at the scalp. Then once complete, pin at the base and let hair naturally fall over the braid.
  6. For maximum hold, Nick recommends using Kerastase Laque Dentelle.

Friday's Fashion Obsessions: Emmy Rossum and Kellie Pickler

Emmy Rossum

You know spring is in the air when all the fashionable celebs start showing off their prized pastel styles. Not one to be outdone, Emmy Rossum made us green with envy this week when she rocked this shades of mint ensemble.

Mint green and seafoam have always been my favorite spring colors. There's just something so fresh and light about the colors that just screams warmer weather. When paired with seafoam ballet flats and a studded mint crossbody bag, Emmy's lacy blue sweater (layered over a simple gray dress) takes on a dreamy air of polished spring perfection. I'm loving the fun layering going on here and think Emmy could teach us all a thing or two about mixing complementary colors.

The final verdict? As if she didn't look sweet enough, Emmy added bouncy waves, a soft mani and cute shades. Looking good, girl!

Kellie Pickler

Forget pink, Kellie Pickler was pretty in purple at this weekend's 49th Annual ACM Awards. The country crooner definitely wins our best dressed award in this dreamy pastel gown.

Much like mint, soft purples can easily make you go weak in the knees with major fashion envy. Kellie's ruched sweetheart neckline and waist-enhancing jewel detail add some gorgeous femininity, but it's the unexpected ombre-like color gradation on the gown's train that really caught our eye. Playing with different shades toughens up the otherwise sweet dress a bit and really makes it stand out.

The final verdict? Kellie committed to the purple theme with a pop of color on her nails and eyes, a pretty purple ring and seriously glowing skin. For a soft finishing touch, she wore her blond locks in side parted waves. Pretty, right?

Friday's Fashion Fails: Kacey Musgraves and Shakira

Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves channeled Cinderella for the Annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas in this powder blue dress, which looks like something a Disney princess might pick for her senior prom from JC Penney. The 25-year-old songbird wore a Miu Miu gown with a huge train for the big show.

The pale blue is a nice color for the brunette crooner, but there are a few issues here. The ruching on the bodice of Kacey's dress is totally unnecessary in our eyes, because it makes the designer frock look cheap and ruins the silhouette. And who decided to add that big glittery belt over the top? It's all wrong for her fancy dress.

The final verdict? Unlike Cinderella, Kacey didn't lose a shoe and took the opportunity to flash her unfortunate footwear on the carpet. Whoever told her that black platforms with bejeweled heels matched this dress should be fired. A nude or silver high-heeled sandal would have been way better.

Shakira

Shakira is one hot mama but we're not wild about her emerald ACM dress. The Voice judge rocked a jewel toned Zuhair Murad gown with sequins and cutouts galore that demonstrates that just because you have the body to wear something doesn't mean you necessarily should.

Does it remind anyone else of a reptile shedding its skin or a caterpillar molting into a butterfly from its cocoon? A few skin-baring cutouts can be sexy but when they're over your abs, up your thighs, down your cleavage and arms, it's overkill. Long sleeves also seem a little off season for March in Vegas, but maybe Shak felt like she had to cover up something since the gown is so revealing.

The final verdict? As usual, the 37-year-old's hair is totally on point. Her beachy blond waves look amazing and we love how her long locks can cover any accidental nip slips in this dress. While this isn't our favorite look for her, if you're going to choose a place to go sans underwear on the red carpet, we guess Sin City is the perfect place.

DIY grapefruit and thyme sugar scrub

DIY Grapefruit and thyme sugar scrub

The fragrance of this DIY grapefruit and thyme sugar scrub is light and fresh, and it’s a breeze to make. The sugar acts as an exfoliator, and the olive oil in the mix will help moisturize your skin. Thyme is said to have antiseptic qualities, making it a nice addition in a skin cleanser, and its fragrance is said to help boost the mind, body and spirit. Grapefruit essential oil is also known to help lift your mood. What a great combo to start your day and to help get your skin glowing.

Before you apply the scrub to your body, first test it on your inner arm, where your skin is more sensitive, to help ensure you can tolerate the ingredients. Make sure your arm is slightly wet first.

This scrub may be a bit slippery in the shower or tub due to the oil. Take care not to slip, and rinse any remaining oil from the bottom of your tub or shower when you’re finished. Use a spoon to mix the scrub before using it, and store it in a cool spot with a lid on. Use within five days.

Note: If you’re pregnant, you should not use essential oils. For facts and safety information of essential oils and aromatherapy, check out the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.

DIY grapefruit and thyme sugar scrub

Supplies:

  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/8 cup olive oil (you could also use sweet almond oil)
  • 10-15 drops grapefruit essential oil
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
  • A wide-mouth glass container with a lid (large enough to hold about 1 cup of the sugar mixture)

DIY Grapefruit and thyme sugar scrub

Instructions:

  1. Mix the ingredients together in a medium bowl until well combined.
  2. Transfer the mixture to your container and secure it with the lid.
  3. Use it in the shower or bath, while your body is wet. Scoop up some of the scrub with your fingers or a spoon, and gently massage it over your arms, legs and shoulders in a circular motion.
  4. Rinse well when finished.
  5. Use within 5 days.

What a great way to start the day.

Inspiration

Lupita recently scored a pretty sweet role as a Lancôme ambassadress, and she celebrated by wearing all Lancôme products to last night's MTV Movie Awards. To go along with her fun and flirty rainbow colored dress, Nick created "sparkly, disco-inspired eyes."

Face

  1. Start off by evening out skin tone with Teint Idole Ultra 24H in 550 Suede. Use sparingly over the spots you need it most and make sure to blend well.
  2. Cover up any imperfections with Maquicomplet Concealer in Deep Suede.
  3. Add a rosy glow with a bit of Blush Subtil in Shimmer Tamarind over the apples of cheeks.
  4. Get a glow that envies Lupita's with Star Bronzer Palette from Lancôme’s Summer 2014 Collection.
  5. Set your glowing skin with a light coating of Dual Finish Powder in 560 Suede.

Eyes

  1. Create a dazzling metallic eye like Lupita's with Color Design Infinité 24H in Unlimited Silver and Color Design Eye Shadow in All That Glitters.
  2. Line your lids with a generous yet precise application of Artliner 24H Eyeliner in Black Diamond, extending at the ends slightly for a subtle cat eye.
  3. Add definition to lashes with Hypnôse Custom Volume Mascara in Deep Black.

Lips

  1. Nick created Lupita's juicy yet subtle lip using a combination of L’Absolu Rouge in Saffron Silk and Le Lipstique in Sheer Chocolate. Line and fill in lips, and then precisely apply a coat of your lipstick. For a subtle look, blot with a tissue after for a nice glow.

Inspiration

Celeb hairstylist Peter Butler (for Moroccanoil) prepped Kate for her MTV Movie Awards appearance last night. In creating the look, he was inspired by her slinky LBD and some hair stars of the past: “When envisioning the hair look that I wanted to create to complement Kate's Versace mini-dress, I was inspired by the works of Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin as well as the strong and powerful '80s woman a la Cindy Crawford and Jerry Hall — I wanted big, polished hair.”

Get the look

  1. Kate's style features loads of volume, hold and lift. In order to create that perfect hair trifecta, Peter started off by applying Moroccanoil Root Boost to the roots of Kate's damp hair. He then saturated her locks with Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse.
  2. Next, Peter blow dried hair in large sections using the Moroccanoil Paddle Brush.
  3. Dividing the hair into 2-inch sections, he misted each part with Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray, then wrapped each section around a 2-inch barrel curling iron to create a nice rough wave.
  4. To achieve Kate's tight curl and loads of bounce, Peter divided the hair at the top of the head into 3 separate sections. He then curled each section with a 1-inch barrel iron from front to back (bang to crown).
  5. After all the curls were cool, Peter brushed out all the hair with the Moroccanoil Boar Bristle Classic Brush. He then created a deep side part with a comb.
  6. After massaging a dime-sized amount of Moroccanoil Treatment Light through his hands, Peter began applying the product directly to the hair from the ends up to smooth the entire look. For a bit of extra shine, he sprayed 2 pumps of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine into the air and wafted it over Kate's hair.
  7. To finish, Peter ran a wide-tooth comb through Kate's waves to make them look more natural and topped off the look with Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray.

Study shows how fashion changes for moms

0

High-waisted elastic jeans give "mommy style" a bad rap, but what else changes when we have a baby? A new study from the U.K. shows that a whopping 78 percent of moms change the way they dress after they have their first child.

{{ ooyala({"embedId":{"p4M3R5bDrIQx4jUQKkF90AiPufo4L0Q5":"p4M3R5bDrIQx4jUQKkF90AiPufo4L0Q5"},"adSetCode":"","width":"","height":"","_token":"1bbbe0ca6b623d9621582e2ec4be9c02ea3c367c"}) }}

How your style changes

Two thousand moms were interviewed in the streets of the U.K. and via online poll at Shoe Zone to find out what has changed for them, fashion-wise, and why they ditched their familiar beauty routines. They found that 40 percent of the moms polled said that, on average, their heel height dropped by two inches. Eighteen percent cut their hair into a no-fuss bob, and seven percent stopped coloring their hair.

{{ ooyala({"embedId":{"owNHR5bDqcQXRQrr0HkIHo6YBMbiGWpP":"owNHR5bDqcQXRQrr0HkIHo6YBMbiGWpP"},"adSetCode":"","width":"","height":"","_token":"1bbbe0ca6b623d9621582e2ec4be9c02ea3c367c"}) }}

The top reason? Over 50 percent reported that as moms, they have no more time for fashion. Other reasons cited were speed and comfort as well as fitting in with other moms and even looking the part.

{{ ooyala({"embedId":{"A0NHR5bDp1Ee5soqUkwRBRALAT5ZjGxM":"A0NHR5bDp1Ee5soqUkwRBRALAT5ZjGxM"},"adSetCode":"","width":"","height":"","_token":"1bbbe0ca6b623d9621582e2ec4be9c02ea3c367c"}) }}

Specific mommy style choices

Moms also feel pressure to drop some elements of their previous style, such as short skirts, skinny jeans, crop tops and bikinis, saying that as soon as they became a mom, these types of clothes were relegated to the donation bin.

{{ ooyala({"embedId":{"oyNHR5bDqEq1-EC3NhsZ47eOr6ow0RoC":"oyNHR5bDqEq1-EC3NhsZ47eOr6ow0RoC"},"adSetCode":"","width":"","height":"","_token":"1bbbe0ca6b623d9621582e2ec4be9c02ea3c367c"}) }}

However, not all moms keep these changes for good — most moms said they abandoned the mommy uniform when their children reached, on average, 3 years and 9 months of age. The reasons? Nearly 30 percent said they missed their old clothes, 22 percent were fed up looking like a mommy, 21 percent changed their styles when they returned to work, and 17 percent said they missed their high heels.

Check out what else our moms have to say >>

Celebrity trendspotting at the Coachella Music Festival

Coachella Music Festival

Everyone knows that style-scoping is as much (if not more) important than catching the actual bands at the Coachella Music Festival.

Festival-goers spend weeks deciding on the prefect duds that will embody their eclectic mix of up-to-the-minute trendiness and laid-back hipster aloofness.

It's not an easy style to nail, and no one does it better than the celebrities. This year we got inside access at all of the weekend's hottest parties to bring you the top celebrity styles seen at Coachella.

Fedoras & denim

Katy Perry was captured in a very random embrace with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, wearing an adorable pink straw fedora at the Lacoste Beautiful Desert Pool Party on Saturday.

The singer offset her demure hat with trendsetting cat-eyed sunnies and bright green hair.

Also rocking the classically cool headgear was actress Julianne Hough, who went a more chill route with a soft pink tie-dyed tank top and long denim shorts.

We must say it was refreshing to see Hough choosing not to embrace the whole “denim-underwear” trend that's so widely accepted at the festival.

Actress Jenna Malone went one step further, mixing the two popular trends (denim and fedoras) with one more recent runway favorite: tartan. While this would usually be pushing it as far as style-stuffing goes, we think she pulled it off nicely.

Another gal who opted for a grown-up denim look was style star Louise Roe, who paired her frayed blue jean shorts with a button-up denim shirt at Kari Feinstein's Music Festival Style Lounge over at the La Quinta Resort in Indio.

Roe was rocking “just rolled out of bed” waves with a pair of cool bright blue slip-ons. Very concert chic.

The most understated look of the day went to Emma Roberts, who paired an un-frayed, cuffed and appropriate-length pair of denim shorts with a preppy tank top polo. Her Aunt Julia would be proud.

Leather

Staying warm was many celebs' main priority as the temps in the desert dropped each evening.

Celebrities like Carmen Electra and Kelly Osbourne were both snapped wearing full-on leather jackets to face the cold at the Neon Carnival with Guess, presented by Nylon and Olay Fresh Effects.

While Osbourne opted for basic black, Electra embraced the event's name in a bright blue jacket. For further armor she wore a hoodie underneath and black biker gloves.

Funky accessories

Another day, another funky outfit for Katy Perry.

Perry was spotted wearing some eye-popping accessories with friend DJ Mia Moretti.

Back at day two of the Lacoste party, Keeping Up With the Kardashians' Kendall Jenner shocked us with a large gold hoop nose ring, attached to her ear.

Paired with a turban and flower-framed sunglasses, this look was far from the innocent image of Kendall's early days.

But the craziest accessories of the weekend were seen on Lady Victoria Hervey. The U.K. model and pal of Lindsay Lohan decided to wear a pink unicorn backpack and multicolored knee-high fur boots to the Neon Carnival.

This choice was a little surprising from the usually stylish socialite. Hey, at least she was warm.

OPI sheer tints: Swatches and nail art ideas

OPI's new sheer tints top coat colors can be used in a variety of ways. Here are four ways to wear them, shown in all four colors.

  • The first nail is a gradient effect, which you can create by staggering four coats of polish.
  • The second nail shows the tint over silver glitter.
  • The third nail is painted in a similar opaque shade, with the sheer coat painted on half the nail to show how it enhances regular polish.
  • The last nail shows the sheer color on its own.

You can get creative with nail art and use these in more ways like creating a pattern of polka dots or stripes and overlapping the shades, making a plaid design, painting each half of the nail in a different sheer and letting them overlap and make a third color in the middle.

2014 Real Woman Beauty Awards

With celebrities like Lena Dunham, who has shattered stereotypes about body image, and Lorde, who proudly tweeted an image of her "flawed" skin, it's pretty clear that women can have a powerful say in what we think beauty looks like and how it differs from what society and stereotypes have projected on us.

You may love to wear a full face of makeup or maybe a pretty lipstick and a quick swipe of mascara does the trick for you. Maybe you never wear makeup but indulge in hair care trends like oils and deep conditioners. Maybe nail polish is your form of expression or you've discovered a dry shampoo that makes your hair look just as good as the girl's in the Herbal Essences commercial.

These little things give us a small amount of joy to carry around all day and we shouldn't be afraid to admit that. While we don't want to wear society's costume, certain beauty products help us feel beautiful.

As our Director of Editorial Lauren Swanson put it, “The idea of beauty is changing. Women are embracing positive self-image and turning to each other to define what works and doesn’t work. The Real Woman Beauty Awards is about finding those gems that the average woman swears by and sharing that with our readers.”

So, since crowdsourcing your Facebook friends to learn about the best mascara can often be just as reliable as “googling it,” we surveyed our readers and the everyday experts among us to figure out what brands they choose when faced with the influx of makeup, skin care and hair care options. We wanted to know: How do you solve issues like dry skin and flat hair?

We also hand selected some brands who give back. These do-gooders are helping to spread the message that inner beauty is just as important as outer beauty. All finalists, winners and editors' picks will be announced on April 24. Until then, here is a preview of some of the products women just like you nominated most often.

DIY Minty moisturizing foot scrub

Peppermint essential oil has anti-inflammatory properties, meaning it can help alleviate sore muscles (high heels or workout wear, anyone?). The sugar will help just where your feet need it — think dry heels and toes — and works to eliminate dry skin. The added olive oil will help moisturize your skin.

This scrub may be a bit slippery in the bathtub or sink due to the oil. Take care not to slip, and rinse any remaining oil away from your bathroom surface when you're finished. Use a spoon to mix the scrub before using it, and store it in a cool spot with a lid on top. Use within a few days, as the sugar will begin to dissolve.

Note: If you are pregnant, you should not use essential oils. For facts and safety information of essential oils and aromatherapy, check out the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.

DIY minty moisturizing foot scrub

What you'll need:

  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup olive oil (you could also use baby oil)
  • 10-15 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 1 wide-mouth jar with a lid

DIY Minty moisturizing foot scrub

Directions:

  1. Mix the ingredients together in a medium bowl.
  2. Transfer the mixture to your container and secure it with the lid.
  3. Use it sitting on the edge of your tub or a sink. Wet your feet, then scoop up some of the scrub with your fingers or a spoon, and gently massage it over your feet (especially your heels) in a circular motion.
  4. Rinse well when finished.

Add these to the baskets of all the good eggs in your life. They'll love these sweet (calorie-free) treats.

Glycerin soap is super-moisturizing and if you find the right type, it can be all-natural without any harsh or man-made ingredients. I found a bag of all-natural glycerin pieces at a local craft store. To create these egg soaps, I added a vibrant essential oil to the mix (think lemon or rosemary), but that's an optional step. You'll also need food coloring to give these soaps their pretty tints.

When you're finished, package them as you'd like, but I think they're cute presented in a small basket. If you're giving them as gifts, don't forget to let your recipients know about the pins used to secure the ribbon.

Note: If you are pregnant, you should not use essential oils. For facts and safety information of essential oils and aromatherapy, check out the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy.

DIY colorful Easter egg soaps

Makes 6 egg soaps

What you'll need:

  • 6 (2-ounce) plastic Easter eggs that separate in half
  • 12 ounces pure solid glycerin pieces
  • Food coloring
  • Essential oil (optional)
  • Microwave-safe glass bowl (small)
  • Plastic spoons (1 for each color you're using)
  • Styrofoam cups (1 for each color you're using)
  • Mini muffin tin to hold the egg halves
  • Decorative ribbon
  • Several straight pins

 DIY Colorful Easter egg soaps

Directions:

  1. Place the plastic egg halves in the mini muffin tin, close to where you'll be working. This will help hold your eggs in place as the glycerin forms. Be sure you can keep them in this same spot, undisturbed, for 15 to 20 minutes or a bit more.
  2. Work with 2 egg halves at a time in mind. Add 1 to 2 glycerin pieces, cut into smaller chunks, to the small bowl. Microwave in increments of about 10 to 20 seconds depending on your microwave.
  3. Remove the melted glycerin and use a spoon to stir any small pieces that didn't melt.
  4. Once completely melted, let it sit for a few seconds, then transfer it to 1 of the cups. Drop in your desired food color (I used 1 to 2 drops per egg), and a few drops of your essential oil (again, I used 1 to 2 drops), if using.
  5. Mix with the spoon, then pour the mixture into both the smaller and larger egg halves in the muffin tin.
  6. Repeat the process using a separate cup and spoon for each color.
  7. When the glycerin is solid but still very slightly warm and pliable, hold the egg halves in your hand with the open side facing up. Use your fingers to slightly bend all around the opening to help loosen the soap. You'll need to do this for several turns. You may also need to bang the open half on a solid surface to help loosen it.
  8. When each half is removed, hold them together and place a ribbon around the center where they meet. Secure the ribbon in 1 spot using 2 straight pins, 1 for each end of the ribbon, to hold it in place.
  9. Package the soaps as you’d like.

Dermatologists share: Anti-aging tips that work

anti aging skin tips

You don't have to accept every little age spot and wrinkle. Do something to stop them in their tracks. Debra Jaliman, MD and author of Skin Rules: Trade Secrets of a Top New York Dermatologist, says many anti-aging tips really do work. If you're ready to take on Mother Nature, let these top medical experts help you start your anti-aging skin regimen today.

Practice prevention

The earlier you begin caring for your skin, the better. "Prevention is important," says Houtan Chaboki, MD, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon with George Washington Medical Faculty Associates Department of Surgery in Washington, DC. "Start a skincare program with your dermatologist or plastic surgeon when you're younger to help reduce the signs of aging when you're much older."

Get started now by choosing the perfect skin care professional >>

Never forget the sunscreen

Sunscreen is essential. "Apply it daily," advises Chaboki, "even on cloudy days."

Dr. Jaliman, who prefers "zinc oxide, as it is broad-spectrum and anti-inflammatory," says you should always use at least SPF 30. Some of the higher numbers of protection, though, aren't worth the money. Sun protection factors of 70, 80 and even 90, aren't necessary.

Use good skincare products

The shelves of every beauty department are overflowing with product. So how's a lady supposed to choose? Know which ingredients work the hardest, as well as what ingredients solve the issues you're dealing with.

Retinol

For years now, retinol has been (and still is) the anti-aging buzzword. Retinol (retinoid) is a derivative of vitamin A that promotes an increase of collagen and elastic production. Retinol is used to treat fine lines, wrinkles and age spots. Chaboki advises you to wash off makeup and let your skin dry before applying any product containing retinol. Without that step, you're just asking for irritation.

Peptides

Remember the skin of your youth? Soft, supple and smooth? That, my friend, is collagen hard at work. As we age, we tend to make less and less of that good stuff (hello, wrinkles!). Products made with effective peptides can stimulate collagen production and cell repair to lead to healthier, younger -looking skin.

What can peptides do for you? >>

Antioxidants

OK, let's face it. There's no magic pill to help bring back the skin of your youth. Vitamins C and E come pretty close, though. Not only do these two antioxidants protect your skin from the sun, they also speed up its natural repair system, possible reducing the appearance of some of those pesky age spots.

Be patient

We're a culture of immediate gratification, but it's important to note that some things take time. "Most dermatology products take several weeks or months to demonstrate skin improvement," says Dr. Chaboki. Trying different products for only a few days or a couple of weeks doesn't give the product an ample chance to work.

Live a good life

"Lifestyle choices have more impact on skin quality than any treatment the dermatologist or plastic surgeon can provide," says Chaboki. "Stop smoking, drink plenty of fluids, restrict sun exposure, get plenty of sleep, eat a balanced diet with vegetables and start a skincare program with your skin specialist."

Know what you're doing wrong

No matter how hard you try, there's a good chance you're doing something to sabotage your skin care. Jason Steffan of Richard Steffan Skincare in Switzerland says these are six of the most common skincare mistakes women make:

  1. Going to bed without removing your makeup
  2. Using too many different skincare brands at once
  3. Not allowing enough time for your skin to adjust to a new skincare regimen
  4. Living an unhealthy lifestyle consisting of poor food choices and lack of exercise
  5. Exfoliating excessively
  6. Not looking at ingredients in food and skincare products

Celeb Hairstyle of the Week: Nina Dobrev

Everyone has a few celeb fashion and beauty crushes. Nina Dobrev just happens to be one of mine. The star of The Vampire Diaries manages to combine youthful style with sophistication at every red carpet event she attends and is constantly pushing the boundaries with edgy, complicated hairstyles.

At a recent event, Nina wore her beautiful locks in a braided updo and I got celebrity hairstylist and Wella Professionals Top Artist Aubrey Loots to share his tips for recreating Nina's lovely 'do at home. Have fun styling, ladies!

Get the look

"This is a fun and easy at-home twisted, braided updo. The idea of Nina’s look is to achieve an 'undone' yet structured and intentional style," Aubrey says.

  1. To recreate Nina’s look at home, begin by drying your hair with your hands. Before it's all the way dry, spray in Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz for texture and grit.
  2. Then create a ponytail in the back and apply more Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz.
  3. Next add a simple braid, twist or knot and wrap it around the base of the ponytail.
  4. Pull out a soft piece of hair around the face and a few fuzzies around the entire hairline.
  5. Finish off with a light workable hairspray like Wella Professionals Stay Essential for hold.

We can always count on the Kardashian ladies for some bright style inspiration, and this week Kourtney didn't disappoint. The stylish mother of two stepped out in this warm weather-ready romper and adorable tote that got us super pumped about the summer.

Rompers are basically God's gift to women. They're so comfy, super stylish and they easily give you an instant outfit. They're also great for when you're on the go. To accessorize her bright blue look, Kourt stepped into some pointy, leg-elongating nude pumps, threw on some gold bracelets and added a roomy personalized tote.

The final verdict? This outfit proves that you can dress up almost anything. Kourtney could just have easily worn her romper with a cute leather jacket, sandals and a boho bag for a more casual look. Lucky for us, she chose to show us all a fun way to dress up the huge romper trend!

Another day, another stylish Taylor Swift New York City sighting. The starlet has been on a fashionable parade the past few weeks while she spends some time in the city, and I caught her looking all lovely and ladylike here in a dress we can all actually afford.

Oh hey, Taylor Swift. Look at you, strolling the streets of New York City just looking absolutely perfect as usual. Sigh, can you tell I'm a little jealous of her wardrobe? All gushing aside, Taylor achieved this street style blog-worthy look by pairing her patterned dress with a brown structured bag, black cutout oxford heels and simple black shades. The effect is ladylike yet youthful and that dress totally shows off Taylor's killer gams.

The final verdict? Not one to ignore the little details, Taylor added a flirty bow detail headband and her signature red lip. We think she looks comfy, cute and très chic.

Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner at Coachella

Kylie Jenner hit Day 2 of the Coachella music festival with her sister Kendall in this goth getup that was less boho chic, more boho-oh-no-she-didn't. If you watch Keeping Up With the Kardashians, you know that the 16-year-old definitely has some edgy, cool style, but we're giving this angry flower child ensemble a thumbs down.

Midriff tops are all the rage at the desert fest and Kylie's black one is OK, but her shorts are so small, it looks like she's wearing a black diaper. The reality star borrowed Steve Madden combat boots from fellow festival-goer Selena Gomez and piled on the accessories, adding a studded fanny pack, tons of necklaces and the requisite floral headband.

The final verdict? Since she's already showing skin in her crop top, we would have gone for a maxi skirt instead of tiny shorts on the bottom and ditched the flower crown, which is completely played out. Does her dad, Bruce Jenner, know his 16-year-old daughter is running around Coachella like this? We doubt it.

Jared Leto

Thank you, Jared Leto, for proving that bad festival fashion isn't just for the ladies. The Oscar-winning Dallas Buyers Club actor donned his fugliest outfit for Nylon and Olay's Neon Carnival party, presented by Guess. Have you ever seen an outfit that clashes more? We think not.

Jared went for a typical hipster flannel on top but clearly needed to stand out from the rest of the indie bros at the fest, so he threw on zebra print skinny pants and some sort of puffy scarf or tie. Why is he wearing his sunglasses at night? Does it hurt his eyes to look at this ensemble too? We feel your pain.

The final verdict: If he wanted to wear those wild pants, he should have paired them with a simple black tank top or plain white T-shirt instead. Animal print and flannel should never be worn together. At least his signature ombre colored coif looks fabulous as always.
