Product review: Moroccanoil Pure Argan OilName this product:

Moroccanoil Pure Argan Oil (moroccanoil.com, $50)

What the product claims to do:

This argan oil can be used for skin, nails and hair and features the nourishing properties of pure argan oil. It's rich in vitamin E and antioxidants and glides on like silk.

How it worked for me:

I used the argan oil on my hands, nails and decolletage and found that I enjoyed it most when used on my nails/cuticles and decolletage. I prefer a deep cream moisturizer on my hands, so this oil is best when applied to other parts of the body, at least for me. It gave my decolletage a great glow, rubbed in nicely and moisturized so well!

How this product looks and feels:

It comes with a medicine dropper applicator for you to dispense a few drops at a time. The oil feels silky on the skin and gives it a nice glow.

What I liked about this product:

I enjoyed the fact that you could control the amount of product you're using, thanks to the medicine dropper applicator. It prevented any spillage or overuse of product.

I would recommend this product for:

Women who love multitasking beauty products. Also for women who love body oils and products with safe, pure ingredients.

If relevant, how I felt about the scent of this product:

There's not much of a smell. It's fragrance-free.

Friday's Fashion Obsessions: Jessica Alba and Olivia Palermo

Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba

There's nothing mellow about this yellow coat Jessica Alba was spotted in recently. The actress, mom and businesswoman is the queen of chic street style and showed off her sartorial skills in this seasonally appropriate ensemble.

I love a walking fashion contradiction so I'm simply obsessed with Jessica's combo of girly and edgy here. The bright yellow coat is pretty and pops nicely against the mostly black outfit, and those heeled combat boots add some unexpected toughness. You might think her patterned dress and graphic clutch would compete for attention with the bold coat but they actually stand well on their own due to their mixed tones.

The final verdict? I can't remember the last time I saw Jessica on the worst dressed list. She's definitely one celeb whose closet I'd love to raid! This outfit is just perfection.

Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo

Also topping our best dressed list this week, Olivia Palermo proves yet again that she's got some serious fashion chops. The fashionista and socialite donned this pretty pleated LWD to a recent event.

So why is this simple white dress so special, you ask? That's easy. It kind of resembles a coat and shirtdress all at once, and features some major pleats with a peek of blue lining underneath. All these little details combine to make the dress really stand out! Olivia's statement necklace and colorful shoulder bag lend some additional color to the look and her understated makeup and hair let her dress take all the attention.

The final verdict? This look is so easy to wear and super versatile, too. Invest in a simple white shirt dress now and you'll be wearing it for seasons to come to multiple events — for work and play!

Friday's Fashion Fails: Kristen Bell and Sarah Jessica Parker

Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell decided to dress as the Wicked Witch of the West for her big Veronica Mars premiere in NYC. Her strapless black dress is actually Monique Lhuillier. The designer is known for making beautiful bridal and red carpet dresses, but this gothic version isn't our favorite.

While the shape of the actual bottom dress is suited for Kristen's petite figure, what's with the sheer mosquito net layer on top of it? It looks like the kind of thing Angelina Jolie would wear if she was a beekeeper. The extra layer adds unnecessary bulk to the actress' svelte frame.

The final verdict? This black LBD would be much better if she ditched the top layer and just kept it simple. We do like her Jimmy Choo shoes and we're kinda digging the natural hair the new mom is sporting too.

Sarah Jessica Parker at launch of new shoe line

Sarah Jessica Parker

OMG SJP! Sarah Jessica Parker stepped out for the launch of her new shoe line at Nordstrom Aventura in this crazy getup. The strappy sandals she's wearing are the least of our worries. What is going on with her multi-layered outfit?

The crimson lace strapless dress is cute on its own and shows off the Sex and the City star's tiny waist. But why in the world would she put a baggy white collared blouse underneath it? Wearing a shirt under a tank wasn't cute in the '90s and it's still not cute now. In another throwback fashion nod, she's also sporting stirrup leggings, which were all the rage... back in the 1980s, that is.

The final verdict? We know your HBO series started back in 1998 but that doesn't mean your fashion has to be stuck in a time warp. We will say that her long locks look super shiny and healthy, so well done on the beauty front.

Kermit's Kollar

If you love a mix of classic and iconic, you need to try this Kermit's Kollar tutorial. Get the look in seven simple steps.

Kermit's Kollar nail art

Photo credit: Chalkboard nails for OPI
  1. Stick a hole punch protector at the base of your clean and prepped nail.
  2. Polish your nail with 2 coats of "I Love Applause" leaving the cuticle bare.
  3. Create an arch of 5 tiny dots just about halfway up your nail. You can do this with a nail art brush or a toothpick — both work great.
  4. With a thin nail art brush, draw 2 lines from your sticker guide to each of the dots to create 5 triangular points.
  5. Carefully fill in the triangles.
  6. Gently remove the sticker guide. TIP: Pull from 1 side of the nail to the other, never directly up.
  7. Finish up with a top coat and marvel at your masterpiece!

Kermit Loves Piggy

Cheer on the original Hollywood power couple, Kermit and Miss Piggy, with this design.

  1. Start with a dry "I Love Applause" mani.
  2. Pour a small amount of "Gaining Mole-mentum" onto a paper plate, then pick up glitter flecks with a toothpick.
  3. Place the glitter flecks on your nail in a heart shape. TIP: The center line of your nail is an easy reference for the center of the heart.
  4. Fill the heart with as many glitter flecks as you want.
  5. Solidify your design with a top coat.

Interpol 'Stache

All we needed was just one look at Ty Burrell's glorious 'stache in Muppets Most Wanted for it to become the muse for this next nail art design.

Interpole 'Stache nail art

  1. Start with a dry "Chillin' Like a Villain" manicure.
  2. Add a coat of "Int'l Crime Caper" and let it dry completely.
  3. Layer on "Let's Do Anything We Want" glitter. TIP: Dab the glitter onto your nail to ensure that you get even coverage.
  4. Use a dotting tool to make 2 dots of "Miss Piggy's Big Number" at the tip of your nail.
  5. Fill in your favorite mustache shape and let it dry.
  6. Finish your design with a top coat as always.

Mega Moles

As Kermit can tell you, one tiny dot can cause a whole lot of trouble. If you're up for a little mischief, try this quick and easy design.

Mega Moles nail art

  1. Start with a dry "Chillin' Like a Villain" mani.
  2. Outline circles of "Kermit Me to Speak" with a very fine nail art brush.

Product review: Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC CreamName this product:

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream (pharmaca.com, $31)

What the product claims to do:

This cellular repair CC cream works for all skin types. It repairs damage, evens skin tone and texture, provides protection against the sun, gives skin a radiant glow, moisturizes and reduces fine lines.

How it worked for me:

This CC cream gave my skin a really nice glow! It offered light coverage — this isn't your stage makeup foundation, ladies — and didn't make my skin feel as if it was wearing a mask like some facial color products do.

How this product looks and feels:

The packaging is simple, and the product itself is easy to spread over the skin. It is creamy yet not heavily thick like some other CC creams I've tested.

What I liked about this product:

I loved the safe ingredients, the creamy texture and the glow it gave my skin.

I would recommend this product for:

Women who prefer a lighter coverage CC cream. This one isn't cakey or heavy, and doesn't look like you're wearing a mask.

How I felt about the scent of this product:

Upon first use, I did notice a bit of a scent. It was neither exciting nor insulting, something I feel that you would easily grow to forget, as with most foundation-like products.

Product review: Vichy Laboratoires Dermafinish Corrective StickName this product:

Vichy Laboratoires Dermafinish Corrective Stick (vichyusa.com, $28)

What the product claims to do:

This concealer offers high coverage without a mask effect. It feels lightweight on the skin and provides long-lasting wear for minor skin flaws (under eye circles, age spots, scars, blemishes).

How it worked for me:

The product was very easy to use and rub in. It didn't feel heavy or cakey like some concealers and offers a good amount of coverage.

How this product looks and feels:

The consistency is nice and creamy, and easy to rub in. It goes on darker than it looks but once you rub it in, it blends into your skin tone. The packaging is very sleek!

What I liked about this product:

I liked the compact size of the applicator and how easily the product comes out — sometimes when you have a concealer, you have to crank it out of a brush applicator which is a bit of a pain, so I enjoyed this stick applicator.

I would recommend this product for:

Women who prefer a stick applicator when it comes to their concealer.

It’s easy to get in a rut and throw on the same sweater/boot/parka combo every day. Pack away your parkas and dark colors for the year, and wear a brightly colored coat instead. It’s an easy way to make a stylish statement and boost your mood.

Reintroducing color into your wardrobe is the perfect way to eventually transition to spring clothing as well. Feeling shy after a long winter wearing neutrals? Wear a neutral ensemble, like black jeans and a black sweater, topped off with a bright coat. The simplicity of putting a little pep back in your step couldn’t be more chic.

Spring cleaning for a cause

As if you needed a reason to love Nordstrom even more, this year they are giving you an incentive to get your spring cleaning done. Thanks to a partnership between Nordstrom and Fashion Project, donating your clothes has never been so rewarding.

Nordstrom and Fashion Project team up to help you with Spring Cleaning

The details

So what can you donate? Fashion Project wants quality items (which means the original price you paid for the item must be $50 or more) from this list of brands. Any clothing, accessories, handbags or shoes that you've worn once and shoved to the back of your closet will do. They will then sell those items for you and donate the proceeds to the charity of your choice. What's even better is that Fashion Project sends you a $40 gift card to Nordstrom. Think of it as a karmic reward for all your goodwill to the fashion world.

How to get involved

Fashion Project works hard to make sure your donation is as hassle-free as possible. That's why they've streamlined the process to one easy step. All you have to do is sign up through their website to tell them what charities you'd like to donate to. Next, you'll receive all the shipping materials you need to send in your items. That's right — you don't even have to leave the house (or get out of your pajamas) to do a good deed. As soon as your items have been sold to their new owner, you will be given your Nordstrom gift card and your charity will collect their donation.

For more information, head over to their website and watch the video below. You can also do a little shopping yourself. You'll obviously need some new clothes to fill the void in your closet left over from your donations.

Product review: Tata Harper Hydrating Floral EssenceName this product:

Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence (tataharperskincare.com, $85)

What the product claims to do:

This moisturizing toner spray hydrates skin and gives it a dewy glow. It includes hyaluronic acid to preserve hydration, minimizes signs of aging and fights against free radicals.

How it worked for me:

Since I don't have many visible signs of aging yet, I can't speak to the anti-aging properties of this toner. However, I can say that it felt instantly cool on my skin and gave my dry combination skin a nice boost of moisture midday. It gave a nice glow to my skin too!

How this product looks and feels:

Packaged in a green bottle, this toner is clear and feels cooling on skin.

What I liked about this product:

I liked the gentle feel. Many toner sprays leave skin stinging or tight, but this one was very refreshing and great for my sensitive skin.

I would recommend this product for:

Women with combination, dry or sensitive skin. Also women who prefer products with safe ingredients.

What would happen if you quit shampoo

The 411 on going suds-free

Let's take a moment and picture our lives without shampoo: Do I really need to add to the scroll of reasons people think I'm weird?

The more I learn about the no shampoo movement , the more intrigued I am, which only leaves one question: If you were to go 'poo free, what happens next? It actually makes a lot of sense:

  • Yes, shampoo cleans your hair, but in the process strips it of the healthy oil your body produces to keep your hair soft and strong. If you start thinking of shampoo as a detergent for your hair, it sounds super unappealing, doesn’t it?
  • If we’ve made the decision to not eat foods with ingredients we can’t pronounce, why aren’t we doing the same thing with what we place on our noggins?
  • Shampoo creates a cycle of dependence — you only think your hair needs it because of the side effects it's creating.

These were just some of the reasons mom-gone-viral Jacquelyn Byers went shampoo-free five years ago and hasn’t looked back. All she does now is rinse it in the shower about twice a week:

It took a few months for it to adjust to not being ‘washed,’ but now it’s great. In fact, it’s super healthy. It’s the healthiest it’s been in a long time.

If you’re feeling brave and want to take the plunge, here’s a play-by-play of how to prepare and what will happen to your hair when you go no-poo, courtesy of Michael Duenas, hairstylist and founder of Hair Room Service:

Your hair will go through an oily adjustment period

For the first few weeks, your hair’s going to feel extra greasy or oily. "When you shampoo more often, your scalp gets used to having the natural sebum cleaned off," says Duenas. "Therefore, you produce more oils to keep your scalp normalized." So for a few weeks, your scalp will produce the same amount of oils it was while you were shampooing.

Your hair’s going to be oily, and your scalp will be itchy in the beginning, but don’t let that deter you, according to Duenas: "Let your scalp normalize and you’ll see a world of difference!"

With patience, your scalp will stop producing excess oil

"After a few weeks, you’ll notice your hair has more luster and shine to it and will have less frizz," says Duenas. And believe it or not, it won’t feel oily, greasy or dirty anymore — all you’ll have to do is rinse your hair with water and your fingertips in scrub mode.

Another bonus: "Your hair color will last much longer without fading since you’re not using any harsh detergents to get it clean."

Four things to keep in mind:

1

Don't tell people what you're doing

At least, not until the adjustment period’s over — simply put, they’ll think you should be fitted for a straitjacket.

2

Make sure your social calendar's clear for the next few weeks

Could you imagine going to a special event mid-greasefest? Ew. Wait until after your event to stop washing your hair.

3

Get used to scrubbing sans shampoo

"Make sure to rinse and scrub your scalp with water every other day when you first start the detox," says Duenas.

4

Keep dry shampoo on hand

During the adjustment period, dry shampoo will become your BFF, helping soak up the excess oil your scalp is used to producing.

To give you a bit more inspiration to get through the next few weeks of damp, chilly temps, I've got the most adorable transitional outfit, spotted on Emmy Rossum.

The actress, and my style crush, just oozed spring (in the most elegant of ways, of course) in this black, white and red ensemble. An ever trendy black and white striped top, textured black skirt and all red accessories (bag, shades and shoes) looked classic and chic on the always camera ready Emmy. Emmy rocked her stylish look on the streets of Los Angeles but it's the universal feel to this outfit that's really got us falling hard. You could wear it anywhere for many different occasions and still look chic.

The final verdict? If you can't bear to go bare-legged just yet, simply add some opaque tights to channel Emmy's effortless chic look!

Elle Fanning

Is it fair that a 15-year-old has this much style sense already? We think not. But that's not stopping us from developing a serious fashion obsession with Elle Fanning. The classy teen previewed spring's pastels in chilly Paris recently and we can't take our eyes off her.

When you've got a face like a china doll like Elle does, you've automatically got an advantage in the fashion game. Dakota's younger sister works her features to her advantage here and pairs rosy makeup and wind-blown locks with a sweet mix of pastels and prints for a fun look. Her soft, pretty coat and ladylike bag look demure against her colorblocked houndstooth patterned outfit and graphic print pumps. The result? Fashion perfection.

The final verdict? We sure wish we had this much fashion game when we were 15! While we can't go back in time and convince ourselves that Uggs and velour pants don't exactly make a great look, we sure can continue to admire Elle's fashion show from afar.

Friday's Fashion Fails: Rita Ora and Maggie Q

Rita Ora

What's black and white and a hot mess all over? That'd be Rita Ora at LAX airport heading to New York City wearing a walking fashion felony that a TSA agent can't miss. The British singer is hurting our eyes with her head-to-toe clashing black and white prints.

Her top and shorts remind us of a high school gym uniform but it's actually DKNY in case you can't tell by the designer's label that's splashed all over the place. Then Rita added black and white striped knee socks which she paired with flip flops. Socks plus sandals never equals OK in our book! The jacket on top with leather sleeves is cute on its own, but all of this together is overkill.

The final verdict? Please save the baggy shirt and shorts for pajamas or going to the gym... or better yet, just get rid of them! And we're begging you to not try to make socks with sandals a thing. Keep the jacket and your fresh blowout though... her platinum blond locks look lovely.

Maggie Q

Maggie Q made quite the entrance at the world premiere of Divergent in Los Angeles minus her underwear. You couldn't miss the former model turned actress in this very little LBD, which featured mere straps of fabric holding it together on one side.

Sure, she's got an amazing body, but is this really appropriate for the movie's premiere — a movie which is based on a hit trilogy of books for young adults? When you're wearing no underwear and such a minimal frock, it's a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.

The final verdict? Maggie's already gorgeous and doesn't need to revert to showing so much skin to get attention. Then again, maybe she was taking her costar Shailene Woodley's advice, who recently explained that it's important to make sure your vagina gets enough vitamin D from the sun. No, seriously.

If you're getting impatient waiting for the next installment of The Hunger Games, you're in luck because there's a new soon-to-be-huge movie series coming out today: Divergent. As the book-turned-movie hits theaters today, we're celebrating one of its stars, Maggie Q, and her super sexy, sleek hairstyle.

The actress swept her locks back in this shiny 'do to go along with her risque black ensemble for the film's Los Angeles premiere this week. Naturally, we're dying to find out how to score the style ourselves so we sought the help of Sarah Potempa, Aussie Celebrity Stylist. Read on for the step-by-step tips for creating Maggie's sexy style in the comfort of your own home.

"This look is so chic, sleek and gorgeous. By simply changing your routine (and your part!) you can be red carpet ready in no time!" Sarah says.

  1. The foundation and health of your hair are key to the end result in this style! Use a large toothed comb in the shower while deep conditioning your hair with Aussie 3 Minute Miracle SHINE. This will help align the cuticle of the hair for ultimate reflection.
  2. Create a clean, heavy side part on damp hair and blow dry downward with a paddle brush. TIP: To find the perfect part, hold your tail comb (or a pencil) from the edge of your nose out toward the arch in your eyebrow.
  3. Section from the bottom up and flat iron with the Sarah Potempa Ceramic Styling Iron. Once you reach the sections in the front, place a small amount of Aussie Miraculously Smooth Anti-Frizz Cream and apply combing hair back, tucking each section behind the ears.
  4. Spray the hair with Aussie You Can Shine Hi Hold + Hi Shine Hairspray for the ultimate shine that lasts all night long! TIP: For a more even, intense hold, spray the hairspray directly on a comb and then apply it to the hair. This will ensure that the hair stays tucked behind the ears with a locked in reflective quality.
  5. Throw on a stunning black dress, a pair of cool earrings and you are ready to rock this look.

Inspiration: To complement Kate's poppy red dress, makeup artist Jillian Dempsey reached for a neutral palette to emphasize the actress' natural features. She used all Lancôme products.

  2. Even out any imperfections with a light foundation like Teint Miracle Foundation.
  3. Add a pop of color with a light dusting of Blush Subtil in Soft Pink on the apples of cheeks.
  4. Set your look and add a touch of illumination with a coating of Translucence Silky Loose Powder all over the face.

The look: Modern waves with a beachy edge.

The inspiration: Celebrity hairstylist Renato Campora was inspired by Kate's bold dress and opted to give her sexy yet sophisticated beachy waves.

  1. Start off by applying John Frieda Luxurious Volume Volume Building Mousse to clean, wet hair.
  2. Next, run a small amount of John Frieda Luxurious Volume Root Booster Blow Dry Lotion to hair, concentrating on the roots to ensure volume.
  3. Now it's time to blow dry! Once your hair is completely dry, use a 1.5-inch curling iron to create voluminous waves that have a beachy, yet defined, style.
  4. Let your waves cool, and then finish the look with John Frieda Luxurious Volume All Day Hold Hairspray to maintain volume all night long.

Inspiration

To go along with Shailene's black sleeveless Elie Saab jumper, Roxy created a spring-inspired look that focused on flawless skin and a pop of color on the lips. "We wanted to create an empowering, confident look and we drew inspiration from Audrey Hepburn's classic eyeliner. We then added strong definition with shadows to really spotlight her eyes while not being so bold that we couldn't rock the red lip too," Roxy explained. "She's very young and youthful and too much makeup can appear aging. In general, we never want anything overshadowing or hiding her natural beauty!"

Skin care

The first step to any beautiful makeup look is a smooth skin foundation. Lucky for Roxy, Shailene understands that already.

"Shailene is really good about taking care of her skin, so we don't need to worry too much about adding extra hydration. I generally just spritz a hydrating elixir all over her face, neck and a little bit on her décolleté," Roxy says. "We love one that’s enhanced with natural ingredients that act as aromatherapy and awaken the skin; it’s the perfect skin prep product."

Face

  1. For a flawless, natural looking finish, start by applying Physicians Formula Organic Wear CC Cream in Light/Medium with your favorite foundation brush (Roxy used #6 from Chanel). Starting at the center of the face, blend outwards until the CC cream melts perfectly into your skin. "Using natural products is very important to Shailene and this one doesn’t compromise performance at all," Roxy says.
  2. Cover up any imperfections with 100% Pure's Everywhere concealer in Golden Peach. Roxy used the golden peach toned concealer under Shailene's eyes and along the edges of her nose to keep this area fully highlighted.
  3. To brighten up cheeks, use a bold lip stain in a soft coral hue, and apply it to the very top of cheeks, almost closer to the temples. "I used a swirl and 'pop' motion that gives an almost airbrushed feeling and look to the skin," Roxy says. "Because of the strong eye and bold lip, I didn't want to create a 'blush-ie' look, so that placement is ideal to add a hint of color, without being too noticeable."
  4. Now it's time to bronze. Roxy used Physicians Formula Natural Wear 100% Natural Origin Bronzer in Light to contour Shailene's cheekbones using a tapered brush. Underneath the cheek bone, she applied it in a back and forth motion to give it real structure.

Eyes

  1. To add just the right amount of definition, use 100% Pure's Fruit Pigmented Eyeshadow in Golden Honey in the crease line. Use circular motions while applying and blend right to left.
  2. Next, emphasize your eyes and make them look bigger with 100% Pure's Fruit Pigmented Eyeshadow in Tahiti on the center of the lid.
  3. Now it's time to highlight. Use 100% PURE Fruit Pigmented SATIN Eyeshadow in HALO in the inner corner of eyes to open up eyes and make them sparkle.
  4. Using a waterproof black liner along the top of your lash line, be careful not to make the line too thin or too thick. "I used the edge of the brush, which was bent, allowing for a more precise application. I start at the outer edges, where I brush on a thicker line, and taper it as I move towards her tear duct," Roxy says. "I applied a little bit to the bottom lash line, and stopped at the middle and blended out with a small shadow brush, creating more balance to the eye."
  5. Roxy says Shailene loves to apply her own mascara. She used Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin CC Curl + Care Mascara on the top and bottom lashes, giving the bottom ones just a subtle touch of color.

Lips

  1. Roxy says Shailene also loves to apply her own lipstick: "Again, this is a continuation in her being an integral part of her look, giving her a moment to connect back with herself, before being in front of the public's eye." She used Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance 12 hour lipstick in Fierce straight from the tube and used her finger to blend the product into her lips, while still maintaining the vibrant color.

How to style the look

When wearing a geometric print skirt, always keep your top neutral. For a fun take on Allison's skirt, grab your fave printed dress and throw a v-neck top over it. Keep the accessories to a minimum too — your skirt, shoes and beauty look are enough to get you the attention you crave. A red lip and pin curls are also a must!
