Celeb Hairstyle of the Week: Kate Middleton

0
0
We have a total hairstyle crush on Kate Middleton's chic 'do. Find out why in this week's installment of Celeb Hairstyle of the Week!

Kate Middleton hair

Are you getting sick of Kate Middleton yet? Nope, I didn't think so! Besides the fact that she's a royal and totally gorgeous, Kate is simply a fashion icon in the making, and I love watching her every move. This week, the Duchess of Cambridge pulled her gorgeous brown hair back in a braided chignon at the UK's Creative Industries Reception in London.

Kate's pretty well-known for her simple yet stunning blowouts, and up until a few months ago, Mrs. Prince William was rarely caught with her hair up. Recently, though, she's been playing with a few new styles, and I couldn't be more pleased. I love how Kate chose a braided detail -- such a hot trend this summer! -- to give her normal chignon an extra pump of pizzazz, don't you?

We're loving Kate's cute hairstyle! How about you? Sound off in the comments! And check out other celebrity hairstyles!

50 Years of Marilyn Monroe-inspired beauty

Some call it eternal beauty and some call it plain ol' sex appeal. Either way, there's no doubt that Marilyn Monroe has left her mark. August 5, 2012 marks 50 years since the day she mysteriously died in her Hollywood home. So, we're taking a look at the legacy she has spawned in the world of beauty and style.

The beautiful Marilyn Monroe in Seven Year Itch

The girl next door

She was one of the first girls next door, as we've come to know the term, in her role as "the girl" in The Seven Year Itch. Over the years, the term has been further defined by beauties like Jennifer Aniston and Elisha Cuthbert.

She's a girl with a little edge and a little controversy, but in the end, she just wants to love and be loved back. There's something very beautiful about that.

Christina Aguilera and Marilyn Monroe-inspired beauty

The blonde bombshell look

When Marilyn left the world, she wouldn't be the only famous female to make sexuality a part of her identity. Christina Aguilera captured the world with her sexuality and kept them watching as she broke out of her good girl persona. After all is said and done, she remains quite the bombshell and constantly rocks some of Marilyn's signature looks: pale skin, the red lip and retro curls.

She has her fashion police moments just like everyone else in the spotlight but still keeps it hot like Marilyn. Other blonde bombshells include Gwen Stefani and Madonna at her start.

Michelle Williams Marilyn-monroe inspired beauty

Forever a cover star

Michelle Williams recently brought Norma Jean back to life and even landed the cover of Vogue. Point is: Marilyn's beauty is clearly eternal because she's landing magazine covers from the grave. We were all reminded, yes, of the troubled life Marilyn led, but also of just how beautiful she was.

The Smash series celebrates Mariyln Monroe-inspired beauty

Do blondes really do it better?

In the hit series Smash, Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty's characters battle it out for the dream role on Broadway playing Norma Jean in Marilyn. Her blonde locks and sexy shape live on in show biz.

Anne Hathaway and in Marilyn Monroe shirt

A graphic icon

Since her death, Marilyn has been with us in spirit, on graphic tees and on wall art. She continues to inspire designers with her iconic face. Here, Anne Hathaway is wearing a comfy red shirt that is significantly more chic because Marilyn's expression is printed on the front.

I guess even when you opt for comfort over style , there's always a way to remind yourself to be and feel fabulous.

Marilyn Monroe beauty

Check out her menswear

Menswear for women has become quite the "thing" over the past several years. Even with curves for days, Marilyn showed us that structured and tailored clothes could flatter a woman's body. She may have thought she was just supporting the troops here, but I consider it a vintage sighting in menswear trends for women!

We'll leave you with this famous quote by Marilyn:
"Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world."

Gentle yet long-lasting, easy to apply yet smudge-proof, well-made yet budget friendly. When it comes to our makeup needs, it really is a task to find the perfect product. But, it's an entirely different game if you're a contact lens wearer. You just want makeup that will stay put and won't irritate your eyes! Here I've rounded up the top six makeup must-haves for contact wearers like me.

Benefit BADgal Waterproof Mascara, $19

Benefit BADgal Waterproof Mascara, $19

The worst part about wearing contacts? Getting makeup in your eyes that stings and having to take your contacts out, no matter where you are! This mascara is perfect for contact lens wearers because it keeps your eyes sting-free without sacrificing lash length and volume! It’s waterproof, so it won’t flake or smudge into your eye throughout the day, and it dries quickly, making it easy to work with.

Blinc Waterproof Eyeliner, $24

Blinc Waterproof Eyeliner, $24

Blinc is a beauty brand that contact wearers can really appreciate. Its innovative formula works to create a waterproof line of color that won’t budge even if you have to rub your watery eyes. The small brush allows the liquid liner to be applied quickly and smoothly, leaving the perfect line every time.

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Lemon Drop Color Correcting Eyeshadow Primer, $18

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Lemon Drop Color Correcting Eyeshadow Primer, $18

This eye shadow primer does double duty! Not only do the yellow tones neutralize redness from agitated eyes , but the primer prepares your lids for your eye shadow.

e.l.f. Studio Mascara and Shadow Shield, $3

Make sure your makeup stays out of your eyes with this nifty little tool. Protect your contacts from eyeshadow or mascara fallout, by placing this shield on your lids while you work your magic. Even the tiniest makeup particle can drive you crazy once it's under your contact lens, so for only $3, this is a must-have in my beauty bag!

Clinique Color Surge Eye Shadow Trio, $24

Clinique Color Surge Eye Shadow Trio, $24

Clinique products are known for being gentle, and their eyeshadow is no exception. With my sensitive skin, Clinique has been, and always will be, my go-to brand. These eye shadow trios come in five different pretty shades -- a different one to bring out any eye color!

Keihl's Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, $17

Kiehl's Supremely Gentle Eye Makeup Remover, $17

How to get bangs for curly and straight hair

Cut them, grow them out, cut them again and grow them back out. So many women struggle with this cycle every season. You’re sick of them in your eyes and want a new look, and then all of a sudden, cute girls like Emma Stone and Taylor Swift are rocking them on the covers of every magazine. Yes, we’re talking about BANGS! So what should you do?
Gemma Aerton with curly hair and bangs

to bang or not to bang?

Cut them, grow them out, cut them again and grow them back out. So many women struggle with this cycle every season. You’re sick of them in your eyes and want a new look, and then all of a sudden, cute girls like Emma Stone and Taylor Swift are rocking them on the covers of every magazine. Yes, we’re talking about BANGS! So what should you do?

I say cut them, only if your hair type is suited to them.

For the curly girlies

If you have frizzy, curly hair, there’s a much better look for you and your hair needs. Don’t put yourself through that blow drying stress, trying to straighten them out and flat iron them or torture them with keratin treatments!

Spornette brush

But if you do want all of that, the best thing is to have them cut long, and use the keratin complex straightening service, applied by a professional. Using Phyto hair care, Phytoliss shampoo and conditioner, wash and condition your hair, and then apply a small amount of Phyto defrisant, $26 .

You will need a large Spornette porcupine round brush to stretch out and smooth the hair, constantly rolling the brush and smoothing out the cuticle . Use a Solano flat Iron, $130, on high. Don’t over straighten; your bangs should have a slight curve.

And remember, stay away from water or any activity where you sweat!

For the straight and sleek gals

For you girls with Marcia Brady silky straight hair, things are a lot simpler. Should I cut them short or long, you ask? Ladies: Always go long, because you can always go shorter to eventually change up your look.

The look for now is straight across, and just under the brow. Don’t do this yourself, leave it to a professional. Recent girls I’ve done a fringe/bangs on are Bella Heathcote and supermodel Britni Stanwood -- two very different looks, but both super cute.

So weigh your options, think about your hair type and be realistic. If you did do this before and it didn’t work, don’t do it again. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results.

Heat-proof makeup tips for moms

You may have already changed up your makeup as summer began, but as the heat and humidity rise even further, women, especially busy moms, need to shield their makeup even more. Stay fresh with these products that will help your makeup survive the dog days of summer.

per-fekt Skin Protection Gel

Lightly layer your skin

So you may have already changed up your makeup routine to include a lighter foundation or even a tinted moisturizer or primer… but still find your makeup melting off your face? Your next hot weather solution is a tinted gel to provide coverage and that can be easily reapplied if the weather heats up. One to try is per-fekt Skin Protection Gel . This is one you will want to keep with you throughout the day to touch up when you need to. With the lightweight formula, it won't look heavy throughout the day.

Sephora Collection Lush Flush Cheek & Lip Stain

Gel up your cheek and lips

To keep up your youthful glow while you are running around the park or beach with the kids , try a cheek and lip stain, such as Sephora Collection Lush Flush Cheek & Lip Stain . This gel-based formula also cools the skin upon contact and can be reapplied over your gel-foundation throughout the day. Another bonus is the tube with the doe-foot applicator, so reapplying is simple.

Make Up For Ever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector

Waterproof your brows

We all know about wearing waterproof mascara for long-lasting lashes, but what about our eyebrows? If you are a mom who fills in her brows , your eyebrows run the risk of smudging or running… which means your brows are back to thin and sparse versus bold and beautiful. Try a smudge proof eyebrow filler, such as Make Up For Ever Waterproof Eyebrow Corrector . This cream-based formula is applied in the morning with a brush and then dries to last all day. To feel extra secure, you can even seal it with a product like Model in a Bottle's Eyebrow Sealer .

e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set

Mist yourself

In the heat, nothing feels better than a refreshing cool mist. If you don't have a cabana boy at your service, try a makeup refreshing mist such as e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set . This cooling and invigorating spray contains aloe, cucumber, green tea and vitamins and not only helps to set your makeup in the morning, but revives it during the day as well.

How to look hot in the blistering heat

Woman wearing white

Look cool, even when you're not

It’s 300 degrees in the shade and the last thing you want to do is wear clothes -- of any kind. Unfortunately, parading around in a fig leaf is socially unacceptable.

You wish you could be one of those women who always look like a summer breeze no matter how hot it is outside. Well, now you can. Here are a few of those women’s tricks…

Wear lots of white

…and any variation thereof. White reflects light, as we all know. It also projects coolness, no matter how fast that mercury is pushing to the top of the thermometer. You have to wear white correctly, though. If you are a little heavier, it should be free-flowing. White isn’t better than any other color in the summer if it is sticky and sweaty. If you are of average weight, white capris and a white tank top make you look cool as a cucumber. Delicate floral patterns on white make you appear carefree no matter what the temperature, like you could be found frolicking among the daisies in a field. A lemon yellow is a nice second to white when it comes to keeping your fashion cool.

Wear a bikini top

…under your regular top. Bikini tops are great because they are typically more comfortable than binding bras that tend to get soggy in the heat. Gross perhaps, but true at times. A swimsuit top under your T-shirt or tank says you’re either headed to the beach or just got back from the beach, which makes you appear cooler and more comfortable. By telling the world that you are a bikini wearer, you appear sexy, which is sizzling for different reasons. These tops are on sale nearly everywhere right now, so run out, stock up and get cool.

Dresses, dresses

…and more dresses. If you don’t want to look like a sweat-hog this summer, dresses should be a summer wardrobe staple. The fabric flows and glides, instead of sticks and binds. Dresses tend to flatter nearly every figure. You look at least 10 degrees cooler when you wear a dress instead of jeans and a top. Unlike shorts, dresses are usually a flattering length so they show plenty of leg while covering up the “cheesy” part of our upper thigh.

Skirt

…the heat with two or three go-to skirts. As with dresses, skirts are flowing and effortless. Wearing a skirt is like walking around with built-in AC, because you get to enjoy summer breezes in a way you can’t when you are wearing shorts.

Summer hair

…essentials are loose buns, ponytails and sexy braids. If you leave long hair down on a really hot day, it can make it look like you are rockin’ a wool blanket on the back of your neck. Necks are sexy! Get that mop off of it. You’ll instantly look and feel about 20 degrees cooler.

A vintage fashion overview

Hello SK Style Watchers! While it’s true that vintage fashion can really set your style apart, if you’re just starting out, it’s easy to be confused about vintage, how to buy it and what to buy. So today, I am super excited to give you three simple tips on what to look for when buying vintage. And since vintage fashion has loads of style and flair, it’s definitely my pick as favorite trend of the week!

Trendspotting with Jill Laine: Vintage shopping 101

Jill give you 3 tips on how to shop vintage.

So what is vintage fashion, anyway? This is a subject of much debate, but a basic answer is these are second hand items from a previous era. Much of the vintage, or retro, items that are easily found today date from the 1950s through the 1980s. To begin, don’t worry so much about the era -- you can learn about that later. Instead, just begin to develop your eye for what you love and what speaks to your style!

Our pick: Chanel vintage ring, $75, Vintage by Misty

Start small

If you’re a little reluctant to dip your toe into the vintage waters, start by buying accessories such as jewelry, belts, scarves and bags. These are the pieces that are most easy to maneuver with modern style, and they’ll easily blend in with what you already have.

Our pick: Chanel vintage ring, $75, Vintage by Misty

Our pick: Isabelle Allard Dress, $350, Archive Vintage

Check condition

This is a must when shopping vintage! Check for stains, holes and other problems. Most of the time, the item won’t be perfect -- that’s the charm of vintage -- but decide what you can live with. A major stain or hole that can’t be repaired is a deal breaker for me. Here’s another tip: Check to make sure the fabric is secure by taking a small square of the item and pulling it several times, firmly. If the fabric is rotting, it will tear or disintegrate. And if you find pieces with that vintage-y moth ball smell, you can hang these clothes out in the sun for several days or steam them thoroughly to eliminate that offensive odor.

Our pick: Isabelle Allard Dress, $350, Archive Vintage

Our pick:'80s Ascot Blouse, $30, SheHeartsVintage

Mix it up

Unless you’re buying your next Halloween costume, don’t buy an entire era and wear it head to toe. Instead, pick vintage separates, such as blouses and skirts, that you can mix in with your modern pieces to keep your look current and chic! And one final note here: Be wary of buying vintage shoes, since these can easily look too raggedy or date your look -- and not in a good way.

Our pick:'80s Ascot Blouse, $30, SheHeartsVintage

Up next

So there you have it, SK Style Watchers! Three great tips on buying vintage. And next week, when we continue this talk, I’ll give you my pick for three vintage items that every woman needs to have in her closet! Thanks for watching. For SheKnows Style, I’m Jill Laine.

There are creams and then there are "Beauty Balm" creams. L'Oreal is the latest brand to jump on the BB bandwagon, and its new Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator aims to do a lot: See how it measures up in our review.

BB creams are like mascaras these days: Every girl probably owns one. But in the crop of ever burgeoning options, L'Oreal's Youth Code BB Cream Illuminator promises several benefits, and has an impressively light texture.

Here's what the product promises:

  • Instant luminosity;
  • A broad-spectrum SPF 15 that protects skin;
  • Hyaluronic spheres that moisturize for 24 hours;
  • A pleasant light floral scent;
  • Two universal tints to flatter all complexions .

The cream is formulated for all skin types, has a refreshing fragrance and is definitely not overpowering. It promotes an immediate lightening effect, as you can see from the before/after pictures. Compared to so many other BB creams on the market, this product also has the added benefit of being an illuminator -- so luminous skin is a healthy expectation.

The ingredients of vitamins B3 and C5 serve to brighten the skin, Pro Cysteine protects the skin from environmental aggressors and chestnut seed extract helps with natural skin exfoliation. It also promises an instant lightening effect.

Before photo

Before

After photo

After

The bottom line

There are several other brands that boast BB creams. Origins' A Perfect World cream offers hydration through Silver Tip White Tea and promises eight hours of perfection. Clinique's Age Defense BB Cream promises instant perfection and acts as a primer as well. What does L'Oreal's new offering add to the BB cream pool?

First and foremost -- the price. Many BB creams are priced over $30, and L'Oreal's offering is very affordable. Secondly, the ingredients are top notch and offer your skin the hydration and luminosity you need for that beautiful summer skin glow.

The bottom line? You won't be disappointed!

You'd think after 53 years, Madonna might learn to dress her age, but she clearly hasn't. Her over-the-knee leather boots are way too tight on the thighs. Then there's the super short dress. As you get older, your hemlines shouldn't get shorter and shorter, Madge!

She completed this losing look with a chain link belt. Madonna looks great for her age and has a rocking body, but it's time for her to stop trying so hard all the time to look young. Leave the crazy fashion to Lady Gaga or your daughter Lourdes.

The final verdict? We're going to have to agree with Elton and deem this look more appropriate for a "fairground stripper."

Taylor Armstrong

Taylor Armstrong

Taylor of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills showed up to the sixth season premiere of Dexter in Hollywood looking quite scary herself. There's a whole lot going on here, from head to toe.

Taylor's mane is wild and her dress is a mess. Between the busy print, blousy sleeves, wide belt and alternating hemline lengths, it's a bloody disaster! The fabric has a Pucci-esque print but it looks cheap and the sky-high platform heels say "streetwalker" to us.

Just like Madge, this outfit is too young for someone Taylor's age. We'd love to see her in something more simple and classic, like a little black dress. After all, she's a housewife of Beverly Hills -- not Miami or Vegas!

The final verdict? The dress should be banned but the bag can stay... the blue clutch is cute and would work for day or night.

Friday's Fashion Obsessions: Jessica Biel and Anna Kendrick

Jessica Biel and Anna Kendrick's beautiful celebrity styles made us do a double take this week! We're telling you why in this week's installment of Friday’s Fashion Obsessions.

Jessica Biel

Jessica Biel

Meow! The soon to be Mrs. Timberlake showed up to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart this week in NYC looking pretty fierce, and I took notice. Let's say she's redeemed herself from last week's fashion flop.

Animal print is one of those trends that seems to pop up every season, and every time it does, I'm extremely excited. That being said, if you don't tread lightly, you can end up looking a little tacky -- Snooki style, anyone? -- so I'm glad that Jessica chose this figure-cinching Giambattista Valli number.

The final verdict? The print on this dress is chic, not cheap, and I love the gorgeous draping going on here. As an added bonus, it doesn't hurt that Jess has to-die-for bangs -- a girl's best accessory. Jealous much? Yes, yes I am.

Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick

Anna Kendrick has come a long way from her start as Bella's best friend in Twilight, don't you think? This week, Anna strutted her stuff on the green carpet at the premiere of the new film ParaNorman. The actress, who voices a character in the film, wore a metallic pink Mulberry dress and topped off the look with strappy Hervé Léger by Max Azria Odette sandals.

The shade of this dress is super pretty and really complements Anna's hair and skin tone, don't you think? It's a fun look without being too serious... after all, this is a kids' movie. And I'm so glad to see more stars working this fun metallic trend lately!

The final verdict? Very lovely, Anna! Can we borrow it sometime?

Celeb Hairstyle of the Week: Khloe Kardashian

We have a total hairstyle crush on Khloe Kardashian's chic 'do. Find out why in this week's installment of Celeb Hairstyle of the Week!

Khloe Kardashian -- Before

Khloe Kardashian -- After

I have to admit it: Khloe has always been my favorite Kardashian. I love her humor, admire her body confidence and think she's an all-around fun chick. Now we've all been gushing over Mrs. Odom's ombre hair for quite some time now, but she recently opted for a hair switch up, and now we're obsessing over her new look!

Khloe stopped by the Andy Le Compte Salon in West Hollywood last week to pay a visit to Joico’s Celebrity Stylist George Papanikolas. While there, she ditched her tried and true ombre strands for the rich color she's flirted with in the past. After getting rid of Khloe's lighter tips and using three different color tones, Papanikolas achieved a rich chocolate color that looks totally gorgeous on Khloe.

Since fall is right around the corner, it seems like the perfect time to go darker, don't you think? If you're looking to pull off a darker shade yourself this season, Papanikolas suggests maintaining a steady hair care routine with Joico’s K-Pak Revitaluxe treatment. And hey, if Khloe stands by it, it must work, right? Just look at her hair.

We're loving Khloe's cute hairstyle! How about you? Sound off in the comments! And check out other celebrity hairstyles!

Secrets of the red carpet

Girls around the world have been jamming up bandwidth all summer long as they vlog their back to school hauls. It’s been like an online training camp for fashionistas. As the Summer Olympics draw to a close in London, it’s time to step up to the starting blocks for an even bigger world-class event: The Back to School Style Olympics.

There will be triumph , tragedy and innumerable acts of grace under pressure . Here’s some advice from your style coach on how to stay ahead of the pack and come out a winner.

Woman shopping for clothes

The balance beam

This is the dressing exercise with the greatest degree of difficulty because it requires laser focus to balance a trend with what looks good on you. Don’t give in to something you know isn’t flattering just because everyone else is doing it.

The vault

If you want to leap-frog over the competition, do something unexpected. Mix small and large print patterns with similar color stories accented with a single strong solid.

The uneven -- yet parallel

The bar can get set pretty high by your friends with no-limit credit cards. Even if you don’t have endless funds, you can stay in the game with good shopping sense. Create a capsule wardrobe that you can afford and work in low-priced accessories to keep your look fresh as the season progresses.

Mixed medley

Hi-Lo dressing is here to stay. Pairing designer and discount pieces brings everything up to the level of fabulous. Pull out an upset victory by taking a risk with your combinations. Be willing to look further afield than your favorite mall for important sources of inspiration.

The women’s wardrobe relay

Make an event of cleaning your closet. Hand off, don’t cast-off, your lightly worn specials to your girlfriends. Throw a party and have your own closing ceremony for those pieces that really belong in someone else’s wardrobe.

The perfect entry

Go ahead and make as big a splash as you want. Color is continuing strong into fall so you’ll be able to create eye-catching combinations that will get you noticed.

Style hurdles

It’s not easy to try a new look. But with great risk comes great reward. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this in a fitting, “I never would have put those things together.” Why not?! You won’t know if something works until you try it. So what if you fall! You’ll never grow your look unless you test your limits.

Stay the course

Wait for it... wait for it… that’s right, eventually everything goes on sale. Practice patience, run your own race, keep your technique clean and reap the rewards as a unique and authentic style champion.

Go gold with a master colorist (and more winning beauty tips!)

After two weeks of rounding up patriotic fashions, Olympic-inspired must-have products and our favorite fashion designers from around the world, we wanted to squeeze in a few more lasting beauty tips that will help you unwind from the hype and stress of the Summer Games... and maybe go gold yourself.

Gold and bronze beyond the Summer Games

Christina Hendricks hair color
"It's no longer the been-there, done-that blonde, brunette and red colors," says Bruno.
Debra Messing hair color
"Natural bronze, bright gold and apricot are the big hues in Southern California," he goes on.
Nicole Kidman hair color
Take note from these leading ladies! "[They have] rich polished hints of caramel and strawberry."

What's with these colors?

Bruno Etur, a master colorist for Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon in West Hollywood, has a knack for making sure colored hair looks totally natural. His expertise tells us that bronze and gold deserve celebration beyond the Summer Games and suggests that bold hair hues like bronze, copper and apricot should be standing on a podium somewhere while anthems are hummed in the background.

How to prolong your color

To maintain your color, Bruno says get a gloss! "Hair glossing takes 20 minutes at the salon and costs around $35."

He let us know that it can be matched to any hair color -- you can seal the deal at the time of your initial color but can also get the treatment in between colorings to maintain the vividness.

I stay active and love the outdoors but can never quite master my six pack. This Bliss product was designed with firming and toning ingredients and the applicator massages the formula into your muscles, just like a technician or sports therapist would. Hairstyles for athletes: Best hairstyles for breaking a sweat

Haven't you ever wondered how Olympic athletes look so fab even when they compete? Celebrity stylist Keith Campbell has styled the strong and powerful Serena Williams, among other celebrity clients, and is sharing a few tidbits of expertise on the best hairstyles and hair care tips for the active girl.

Haircare for the active gals

Yes, that's Serena Williams! Keith Campbell, who is known to give her locks some love, offered SheKnows a few pointers on hair care and styles for athletes.

Our USA athletes are kicking serious butt in the Summer Games, but we have to wonder if those feisty women have to go the extra mile to maintain their beauty regimen, too!

So, with the closing ceremony upon us, we're calling this year's games a wrap with a few closing statements on hair care. However you sweat, whether it's yoga, biking, running or winning Olympic medals, you can turn to Keith for a few pointers on looking fabulous during and after your workout.

What are the best workout-proof hairstyles?

"A tight pony tail is always sleek and in style, [and keeps] all your hair out of your face," said Keith. He also suggested a French braid on top of the head that pulls back into a pony tail. "[That] screams fashionably fit!"

Last but not least, he said that a tight chignon or bun works for keeping your hair in place for a workout and still maintaining a sense of style.

He also adds that one sure-fire way to keep hair in place during an intense workout is hairspray. He recommends Jonathan Product Finish Control Spray.

Hair products for active girls
TIP: Replace daily washes with dry shampoo, even if you work out regularly!

What are some hair products for active girls?

"Using products with UV filters is also especially important in order to protect hair from environment damage," says Campbell. He adds, "Using a hydrating balm is great because it will help tame the frizz."

So, in a perfect world, one product would hydrate and protect! You're in luck. He suggests this hydrating balm that fights frizzies and harmful rays. "It's a win win!"

How do we avoid over washing, without under washing?

My main question: If we're not supposed to wash our hair every day, how the heck do we avoid looking like zombies with greasy hair all the time?

Dry shampoo! That's Campbell's solution, "Dry shampoo is a great way to avoid over washing hair, since you really shouldn't wash your hair every day even if you're active. It's a great way to buy a few extra days before needing to wash your hair again."
