Ring finger color

One of the hottest nail trends right now is to paint your ring finger with a completely different polish than the rest. Often called a statement manicure or accent finger manicure, we aren't sure how or why this trend started, but we've seen it on a number of celebrities including Vanessa Hudgens, Whitney Port, Rihanna and Beyonce. You can use the same polish on all your nails and just add a nail art or a glitter top coat to your ringer finger. Or if you want something more dramatic, paint all your nails in a neutral polish and your ring finger in a bright or neon shade.

Bold blues

If you want to buy one color of polish this summer, make it blue. From pale baby blue lacquer at the office to bright turquoise polish at the beach, you can wear blue nail polish almost anywhere. We've seen dozens of celebrities sporting blue nail polish in recent months including Beyonce — who probably wears blue nail color in honor of her baby Blue Ivy.

Metallic shades

Metallic shades of nail polish are hot, hot, hot. You can wear a metallic top coat over your regular color for some shimmer or wear metallic lacquer on its own. Celebrities have been spotted on the runways and city streets wearing shimmery gold nail polish all year. We loved Jennifer Lopez's gold manicure at the Oscars.

Pastel hues

Jessica Alba, Ginnifer Goodwin, Paris Hilton, Michelle Trachtenberg and a number of other celebs have been seen wearing pastel nail polish in recent months. From pretty lilac to mint green to pale pink, the soft, feminine pastels are trendy without looking overdone. If you want to add some glamour to your pastel nails, add a glitter or high-gloss top coat. You can also incorporate pastel polish into the ombre look which has been popular for the past year or so.

To taunt me, one of my class bullies took to telling me I was fat. She used it as a greeting for several weeks until she moved on to torturing someone else. It was not so easy for me to move on. This experience set up an idea of myself as fat, to the point where this was the result: At the age of 17, I stopped eating for two months. I suppose today we would call it a “cleansing fast,” although I don’t think surviving on Carnation Instant Breakfast and diet soda qualifies.

Eventually I lost weight and wrapped up that installment of The Hunger Games. But the idea persisted. I internalize the voice of the Body Bully and for many years it was the authority on my image.

Body Bullies come in many forms. Here are two of the biggies, with some suggestions on how to deal with them.

If you’ve ever looked in the mirror or caught your reflection in passing and made a disparaging remark, chances are this is the voice of a Body Bully you’ve been carrying around. We may be years, miles and many income brackets away from the actual taunt, but whatever the source, we’ve let it take up residence and continue to have its say.

Cancel them out! The best way to banish a Historical Body Bully is to take command of their voice. Should you see your reflection and start to hear, “You’re so fat,” say, “Cancel!” This action interrupts the habit of self-slander. Applied consistently, it will pre-empt the remark. The voice of the Body Bully will fade like a receding echo.

From the co-worker who makes fat jokes, to the well-meaning relative who persists in saying, "You’d be so much prettier if you’d just lose ___ pounds," to the friend/mate/squash partner who wants to know, “When you’re going to do something about your hair,” there are Body Bullies who populate our lives. While they might be unavoidable, it doesn’t mean we just have to take it.

Take direct action! It’s almost a universal truth that when you confront a bully, they back down. Let them know what effect their actions are having and that it’s unacceptable for it to continue. This can be daunting at first, but with a little practice, you’ll become quite good at it.

Floral dress

Floral print dresses are summer staples. They are cute, feminine and fun. Look for floral dresses in easy, figure-flattering styles, such as wrap dresses, simple shifts and A-line shapes. We get that Disney darling Selena is all grown up and applaud her for stepping up her style: She's definitely rocking some more mature fashions as of late. But we're not wild about this feathered Emilio Pucci minidress she chose for the premiere of Part Of Me, Katy Perry's new movie.

First of all, it's a little too short. Even Selena herself appears to be trying to hold down the hem of the dress as she posed for pics on the purple carpet in Hollywood. It's a wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen!

Then there are those unfortunate feathers. Combine those with the frock's hot pink hue and this look reminds us of a flamingo. Sorry, Selena, but we know you can do better.

The final verdict? We love how Justin Bieber's better half keeps it classy, so she should be careful not to show too much skin and make sure her hemlines are appropriate for a 19-year-old. Sometimes less is more! Cute shoes, though.

Oh dear, Demi. The X-Factor judge wore this floral dress from Topshop to the show's auditions in Providence this week. And we totally give the girl props for wearing a dress that's affordable, but this looks a little cheap.

The bold floral print on it is plenty busy enough, but then Demi went and threw a vest over the top plus a spiky statement necklace. Plus, she's pulling a Katy Perry with the pink hue in her hair.

We get it, girl! You're edgy and funky, but this look isn't working for you. But your fellow judge Britney Spears has been looking super fabulous lately in her Herve Leger bandage dresses, which she's worn to tapings in several different cities. Maybe she'll loan you one for the next time?

The final verdict? Between the hair, the floral print, the vest and accessories, there's too much going on here. Pick one statement piece or major trend and stick to it.

Wow. I think that about sums up Blake Lively's look here! The sexy actress showed off her gorgeous figure in this curve-hugging Zuhair Murad beaded gown at the California premiere of Savages this week, and we're betting Ryan Reynolds was pretty pleased with the look.

Let's break down the look, shall we? The nude and black gown mirrors Blake's shape perfectly. It's elegant with a lot of sexy as well and it has a fab floaty train -- basically, it's a dream dress.

Blake complemented the look with perfect retro waves, a bold red lip and the absolute best shimmer cream .

Emma Stone

I'm kind of obsessed with Emma Stone's amazing red carpet looks this week, aren't you? The young actress really caught my attention when she wore this fun white number to the German premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man. The white hot Andrew Gn dress has a lot going on, but it somehow just works!

I'm loving the crisscross chest, the bold middle bow and the prominent shoulders and think Emma looks mature yet flirty at the same time.

The final verdict? Forget The Amazing Spider-Man, Emma's styles have been simply amazing this whole press tour, and I can't wait to see what other fashion tricks she has up her sleeves.
